John H. "Johnny" Haynes, Sr., 60, died early Thursday morning, August 23, 2012, at his home.
Born in Tampa, FL, he attended Temple Terrace Elementary School, Greco Junior High School, and King High School. During his 30 year career in the underground utility locating industry, he met numerous people and traveled various places. He regarded many people in this industry as close friends and referred to them dearly.
Johnny was a 'one of a kind' man who knew everything there was to know about the Civil War, watched every Florida Gator's game religiously, and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson through the mountains and unknown roads. He lived a prosperous life and was always there in a time of need. His legacy will live on within those who have been blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wilson and Maude Sammon; paternal grandparents, Marshall and Arieta Threadgill, C.K. Haynes, Sr., Lodema Haynes and Dorothy Haynes; his father, C.K. Haynes, Jr., his sister, Cynthia Kay Haynes-Martinez, and brother, J.H. Threadgill, Jr.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen M. Haynes; five children, Kimberly W. Brady, of Bradenton, FL; John H. Haynes, Jr. (Rebecca) of Williamsburg; Natalie N. Haynes, of Williamsburg; Lyndsay Stueve, of Tampa, FL; and James W. Haynes, of Williamsburg; as well as his mother, Martha Anne Lapp, of Williamsburg; three sisters, Diane Hall (J.R.) of Riverview, FL; Donna Lowman (C.L.) of Havana, FL; and Juli Davis (Rick L.), of Seminole, FL; eight grandchildren, Kyle Brady, Kristina Brady, Kailey Cook, Elijah C. Haynes, Amara Bland-Haynes, Aaron Haynes, Madison Stueve, and Emma Stueve. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Dr. and Mrs. James P. Williams (Nannette), of Shreveport, LA; Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Threadgill, Sr. (Bobbie), of Hudson, FL; and Esther Threadgill, of West Melbourne, FL; many cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 1, from 10-11 AM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, followed by a memorial service at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
