Gary L. Downing, 61, of Lafayette, died on Wednesday. Born May 29, 1951 in Lafayette, he was the son of Mila H. Grider and Donald G. Downing and Guy W. Shine. He was a graduate of Battle Ground High School in 1969 and graduated from Ball State University in 1973.
