Clay Bryan Thomas
COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Clay Bryan Thomas, 47, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, followed by a greeting of friends in Jackson Hall. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will also receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
Mr. Thomas died Sunday, June 24, 2012. Born in Charlotte, N.C., he was the son of Leslie Clay and Mary Ellen Robison Thomas. He graduated in 1983 from East Mecklenburg High School and was a 1987 graduate of Clemson University, where he received a BS degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of IPTAY and an alumnus of Kappa Sigma at Clemson. He was employed for 24 years with the S.C. Office of Tencarva Machinery, where he was branch manager. A member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, he enjoyed golf, quail hunting and Clemson football.
Surviving are his wife, Bess Roberts Thomas; children, Abigail and Victoria of the home; his parents of Charlotte; sisters, Leslie Currin and her husband, Ted of Stoneville, N.C.; Polly Crowder and her husband, Mark of Johnson City, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Daniel and Thomas Crowder, Joe and Mary Hannah Currin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or Hammond School, 854 Galway Lane, Columbia, SC 29209.
