I remember when she was 10. First time I thought her how to drive... She was driving my Van at the church's parking lot up the street from our house.. She did pretty well after about 45 minutes. I let her drive back to the house and she was so excited and a little nervous but she did it.... We told Dad when we got home and I got yelled at for letting her drive at such an early age and Kyrstin said " you're just jealous because you didn't start driving until you were older! 16 was it?" Lenny and I stared at each other and smiled..... Already a smart ath at 10.. yep.. that's my baby alright..... hehehe

Around late October last Fall semester 2009, Kyrstin gave me a halla one evening and she was like, 'Hey, whatchu doin, we comin' to pick u'. We were out for a night movie show. When I stepped into that Jeep, I was like WOW!!! - I had never seen her looking so beautiful & so pretty like that in my whole entire life. She looked like an angel with her curly black hair hanging down to her shoulders with that famous smile of hers. All I could say was "WOW!!!!!"

That night was the best movie experience I've ever had in my life. While my heart kept throbbing fast throughout that scary movie, Kyrstin was laughing out on the most scary parts, lol!!!
After the movie we were hanging out on some spot with some softball & basketball girls and she clasped my hand so tight. Kyrs was making us laugh so hard with all these funny stories. We stayed there for hours talking n' laughing so hard n' didn't wanna go home, I'll never forget that night - that was one of the best nights out I've ever had in my life. I'm happy I managed to share it with Kyrstin. Kyrstin was amazing, her humor and passion always made things so GOOD!! I will forever love her!! -
When KK was 4 days old, she had jundice and high biliruben ( some kind of bad kind of blood in her system... I think), she had to have blood transfusion. I was devastated and so worried the procedure was going to hurt or kill my baby. She had to be put under UV lights for 1 week? (I can't remember now).... Well even when she was 4 years old, she was already strong. She lived through it and I can not stop thinking how grateful Lenny and I to The Children's Hospital and The Specialists from UCSD that came to the Hospital to do the procedure on KK.

She was a smart kid even shen she was a baby. I took her to the clinic for her 3 mos shot. We came back for her 6 mos shot, she looked at the building and just started crying. She didn't want to go back in there. When she was 1 year old, 3 nurses had to hold her down so that another one could give her the shot. She was really strong even when she was a baby.. I don't know whose blood they gave her, but I thanked them and it bought 22 years of joy, happiness and pride to me, lenny and our family. I love you Tintin!. I miss you sooooo much..Posted by Claire from San Diego, CA - mother on December 19, 2009 -

I remember Kyrstin and I in the spring semester of 2008. We took a Biology lab class for our Generals. Mrs Burgess had assigned us a leaf starch experiment using a burner water bath. We had this 3 page manual to follow and somehow half way through we just felt it sucked and opted to do it a quicker way. We disregarded taking our burner temp every 2mins and thought we would do it after every 5mins. While relaxed, we saw our distilled water rising out of the beaker so fast. Kyrstin was like, 'Tate!! Look, F#@$'. We reached in time to pull out the burner and Mrs Burgess was like 'Guys! That would have blown out the whole lab'. It was so funny, we laughed on this the whole week we came back into that lab. Will never forget Kyrstin - always made me laugh, she always had something for me, a prank or something, lol.

Lenny Kyrstin and I were at the Souplantation at a dinner table... Kyrstin had just come back from getting muffins and butter... As she sat down at the table, she said " I swear dad and my butter have one thing in common" I said "yeah, what is that?" She said " whipped" (At the souplantation , they have different kinds of butter, one of them is whipped honey butter).. Lenny and I just looked at each other and started laughing while she gave us her sarcastic smile. I thought it was so random but funny! I miss my baby....

Kyrstin was born at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego to Lenny and Claire Gemar. As she has grown she's tried various sports and activities, including Brownies, soccer, choir, swim team, karate, and most successfully softball.
Playing for the Clairemont Bobby Sox league, she earned a place on the 2000 All-Star team. She hit her first Grand Slam during the regional all-star tournament in North El Cajon in July 2002. She then went on to play JV softball in her Freshman year at Clairemont High. Moving up to varsity in her Sophomore year, she held the Varsity Home Run record for the 2003 season, and was the only Clairemont player to draw a walk from Lisa Dodd (University City) during the CIF championship game.
After graduating from Clairemont High School, she played two years at Grossmont College, El Cajon in 2006 and 2007. A great writeup by East County Sports is available at EastCountySports.com. They also have a detailed accounting of the seasons she played for Grossmont, with many photos.
During the summers between school years Kyrstin also played on several travel teams including Flame, Breakers, PowerSurge, and San Diego Elite. Kyrstin received a scholarship to play at Dickinson State University, where she played the 2009 season to help the team reach 3rd place in the NAIA National Championship Tournament, and tied with Jody Lantz (of DSU) for the most home runs in a NAIA national tournament.
Entering her senior year Kyrstin was really looking forward to the upcoming 2010 softball season. Unfortunately, those plans have been cut short. We really miss her...

Hey Pungkin! You know Jade remembers the time when you were both on the couch andshe fell asleep on chest while watching tv. She says she misses you a lot and she and Ben help me pray for you when they can. They say thier own little prayers for you. They were so cute. By the way Jade and Ben and Auntie Angie are staying here with us for now. Kids go back to Texas with Lola probably next week sometime.
I miss you baby girl! I love you and RIP!!

Wellll... She keeps on doing that now... Everytime I or Dad lets her in she runs soooo fast to the front door, she always slips when she tries to stop and her hind legs do the splits, then she looks in your bedroom and we laugh and laugh and remind me of you laughing sooo hard about it.... Hey Slugger... So I'm driving home from Palm Springs today and listening to The Highway on XM (you remember, the country channel.) Anyway, they played "Redneck Yacht Club" and it reminded me of your DSU campus visit. This song was playing, you were singing, and we were driving over the Bismarck I-94 bridge back to the airport when you looked down in the river and saw all of the houseboats, power boats, swimmers, etc and started busting out laughing. It brought a smile to my face. I miss you kid...

I am still so sad over the loss of Kystin. She was a student of mine at Grossmont College several years ago. She was such a sweet, funny, curious young woman. She is deeply missed. My heart goes out to her family. You are all in my prayers. ~Victoria Curran (formerly Howitt)

Mama K...Things will never be the same without you. Read your name board right outside your apt door...Promises that we were gonna meet again, Although that is not true for the current, I believe it will come again...just can not wait for that day. Dickinson is just not the same, nights are just not the same when we can not take a midnight trip to wally world and rot our teeth out with candy. Always will be missed, but always engraved in our hearts. Memories were made, and will never be lost. Always and forever in our hearts, send my love to the other two...we will be missing you guys. Always gonna be waiting....Help those girls take number one this year...they deserve it and are gonna do it...Angels our on the field, always will be!
