James Edwin Stokes, III, of Sterling, VA passed away on January 25 2018. Friends may call on the family Sunday, February 4, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Graveside in Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort , SC 29902 at 11:00 a.m.

Jimmy was born June 24, 1952, in Sumter, SC to Betty Geddings Stokes and the late James Edwin Stokes, Jr. He grew up on James Island attending James Island High School where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, his soul mate, the late Susan Wilburn Stokes. He was a devoted father to James Edwin Stokes, IV, a loving son, a dear brother and uncle.

After 24 years of distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force, Jimmy embarked on a career with several U. S. Defense Contractors, culminated by 19 years as a design fabrication manager with BOH Environmental, LLC.

Jimmy is survived by his son, James Edwin Stokes, IV., of Haymarket, VA, his mother, Betty Geddings Stokes of Charleston, SC, sisters Lynn Stokes of Charleston, SC, and Joyce Stokes Rourk (Ricky) of Spring City, PA, brothers Mike Stokes (Candy) of Summerville, SC, and Larry Stokes (Tricia) of Ellicott City, MD, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
