Dr. McAleer passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016.

Dr. McAleer was a resident of Fairfax, Virginia at the time of passing.

George attended Holy Cross College for a year before transferring to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1954.

George was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and went to pilot training. He flew B-47s in the Strategic Air Command and C-130s in Southeast Asia. He flew over 100 combat missions in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extracting Marines - and orphans - from Khe Sanh. He left active duty in 1969 and continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves where he later retired at the rank of Colonel.

Visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 29 from 1-3PM and 6-8PM at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home 9902 Braddock Road Fairfax VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Dec. 30 at 10:30AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 5121 Woodland Way Annandale VA. Burial with full military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery 18424 Joplin Rd Triangle VA on Tuesday Jan 3 11AM.
