Bonnie Jean Westmoreland, 71, of N. Edwards, CA, left this earth for a better place on March 21, 2011, at her home. Bonnie Jean Myers was born on August 8, 1939, in Lonoke, Arkansas. In 1944 she moved to California with her family. She grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, where she met and fell in love with James Westmoreland. She married James on July 20, 1957, in Orange Cove ,California. She had her first child, Randy, in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1958, while James was serving in the U.S. Air Force. The three of them returned to Orange Cove in 1959. Bonnie gave birth to their second child Rhonda in 1960. The family moved to the Mojave Desert in 1963. Gary, her third child, was born in 1964 and Kevin in 1970, both in Ridgecrest ,California. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James “Red” Westmoreland; her daughter, Rhonda (Jerry) Cordova, of N. Edwards; 3 sons, Randy and Gary (Dee), both of N. Edwards, and Kevin (Geanie) of Ridgecrest, CA; 2 brothers, Leonard (Delores) Myers of San Jose, CA, and Lonnie (Kathy) Myers, of New Mexico; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2011, from 5-8 PM, at Stickel Mortuary, Mojave. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at the mortuary. Burial will be private.
