You will always be my Hero Neil. I had the pleasure of being a Field Logistics Engineer for Rocketdyne Division of North American Rockwell at Kennedy Space Center. I was their responsible engineer on the 3,500 pound thrust Lunar Ascent Engine in the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module. I had the fortune of meeting you before the mission and again some years later. You brought pride to this Nation that will stand at the pinacle of achevement for ever!

My family and I, like most all Americans, were glued to our black & white TV set in August 1969 watching what had seemed impossible become possible right before our eyes. It was the first time our entire family had set around the TV set to watch something my daddy said, would one day be remembered by all mankind. He was right, as always. The day families, friends, and mankind came together as one. Mr. Armstrongs statement, "one step for man, one giant leap for mankind" will ring on in the hearts, & minds of those of us who lived it with you and throughout the stories we past along to our children & grandchildren of the first man who walked on the moon. The world has lost a great man but the Heavens have opened for a greater man.
My thoughts & prayers go out to the family & friends and I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing him with the world.
The story of this great American will continue in the history of space exploration throughout our lifetimes...the story of his greatness will live in the hearts he touched forever.
Wink toward the stars for toward the Heavens it will rise. Thank you Neil Armstrong for a job well done.

Dear Neil,
I know your spirit is probably brushing some moon dust off the Eagle lander right about now,up there on the "Sea of Tranquility".

I met and worked occasionally with you when I was a member of the Apollo Lunar Launch Team at Kenndy Space Center (1966-1975).
You will always be a true "American Hero".
You were part of our "Can Do" generation.

God Bless you Neil Armstrong...

A few years ago, on occasion of the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, I wrote for a local newspaper:

"It was the adventure of a lifetime.
My brothers and I were there, as we all waited around the snowy TV screen with little pre-cut card stock models of the lunar module our dad got for us at a gas station that was giving them away for
the historic occasion. Of course, you had to build them yourself I ended up building my brothers' and they didn't last long, but they were the real thing. We could see it clearly enough, anyway, through the static -- on the TV.
That Sunday evening on July 20, 1969, 40 years ago today, Neil Armstrong took us all for a walk on the moon..."
"Forty years later, in the days of the Internet, high definition computer graphics and virtual reality, such a feat might be
considered simple, maybe even quaint. But the truth is that it was the adventure
of a lifetime.
We were there! That was the day we walked on the moon!"

Godspeed, sir...

It was like an earthquake shook the ground that day! My Dad, Mom & sister (and doggy) waited all night on the beach, across the strip of water from Apollo 11. The rocket was illuminated throughout the night, and was scheduled for launch in the morning. What a sight! I couldn't take my eyes off it! My family and I remained in that very spot and all night and watched the blastoff, live and in person, of the first rocket that would carry men to the surface of the moon! Thanks, Mom, and thanks, Dad, for the memory of a lifetime! And thanks to you, Neil Armstrong, our brave and humble hero! You made the impossible possible. We will never forget you!
