So grateful for the amazing music Don Cornelius brought into our home...the artists, the fun! He brings back fantastic memories of my brother - 2-3 years old - running around the house imitating Cornelius' famous intro to Soul Train.

It went something like this....'Little Mark' runs across the room then suddenly stops, waves arms, throws head back and yells, "It's Soooooouulllll Train! Sooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuullllllllll Train!" Runs a few more steps, stops, repeats. Then of course, we all join in, sometimes breaking into a little Soul Train dance line up. Hours of entertainment for siblings and friends!

Thanks for the memories Mark & Don,
Peace, Love & Soul

During a time when we, as Black people were struggling for recognition and respect, Mr. Cornelius came forth with class, dignity and self-respect. A beautiful Black man. A beautiful man. My heart hurts right now, as I'm sure is true of his loved ones, but nothing can change or take away from his legacy of loving and caring for us as a people. God speed...Mr. Cornelius and peace to the family.

I grew up in Gary, IN and I remember every Saturday morning watching the show - with my grandmother who had it on her television every Sat. It lit up our house - the dancers were part of our family. I especially loved it when the OJays were on and Chaka Khan. It was one of the only connections for those of us too young to attend concerts in the 70's. I am sorry that he left the planet like that - he was such a role model. He must have really felt bad. My stepdad did that in 1981 so I know how difficult it is to deal with that type of loss. I truly believe if he believed, he is with God. God forgives all. Rest in love, peace and soul - dear brother.

I was so shocked when I heard about the death of Don Cornelius. I remember watching Soul Train when it aired in Chicago in the early 70s. I lived there as a child and was mesmerized by seeing young people of my color on television. Even though I am a Christian, I would still watch Soul Train from time to time. Let us pray for Mr. Cornelius' family during their time of sorrow. There is nothing we can do for him, but we can certainly keep his family lifted in prayer. God bless you Cornelus family. All of God's children, those great and small, are fallible.
One may try to correct their misgivings based upon their inability to be perfect.
Disappointment in one's self is an extremely difficult burden to bear.
We reluctantly return to the Father, that which he has allowed us to experience and enjoy.
Judge not, let the prince sleep, and honor his memory. For this is not goodbye, just goodnight, until

In 1976 I won the Soul Train dance Contest in Chicago and went to LA and competed with the other contestants. Don used to have a national dance Contest. I danced on the show for 2years. He introduced me to James Brown. Last year Don was here in Chicago where so many people came to honor him for 40 years! I had a chance to talk with him about the old days and take a picture with him. Although he was not in the best of health. I am so glad I had a chance to say "Thank You" for being a wonderful friend and making "Saturday" a day to look forward to. I still look at Soul Train everyday. And I set Back and think about what I was doing at that time. Well Don God said your table's
ready. I heard of a place and I know that it's true, Where there's Beauty and light prepared for me and you. Our Savior's been
there as the scriptures reveal, personally
describing for us the Beauty of Heaven's appeal. While we are here We have things to do, But a day will come When our job will be
through. And we'll hear God's call Don Cornelus Your table is ready.

I was in my twenties when Soul Train came on. It began every Saturday at 12:30 and again later. I listened to the show while cleaning, ironing and to sing to my children. My eldest was about 9 and my other daughter was 14 months old. All of us would dance together. I loved seeing my favorites: EWF and Chaka Khan. I believe Don started Chaka on her way. She was about 19 when she first sang on the show. My favorite Don moment was when he and Mary Wilson did the Soul Train line. He will be greatly missed. I pray for his family.

The Lord never said that life would be easy for any of us, but through it all, He continues to bless us and take care of us, even with the struggles that we all face in this life, if we just have Faith . . . Faith the size of a mustard seed! The Lord blessed Don Cornelius with a wonderful life . . . even with his struggles . . . but it is sad to realize that he didn't know the Lord at all and did not have Him in his life. . . If he had, Don would still be with us today until The Lord called him home. One thing is true: money and fame does not buy happiness. Much love and peace to the Cornelius Family.

Don has done so much for America! His brainchild, Soul Train was a wonderful gift to the entertainment world. It gave all children an opportunity to peer into lives of people thought much different from themselves to see actually, their isn't much difference! To see similarity, talent, purpose and worth, as in themselves. At a time when whites thought being black was shameful, worthless and lesser than. He did a wonderful thing, gaving us a sense of pride, hope and aspirations. I thank God for the blessings which Don Cornelius has bestowed upon us in the Gift of Soul Train. In my opinion, Don Cornelius has fulfilled his life's mission and I pray that God grants him Rest and Peace for eternity!

What a legacy he leaves for all to share and be proud of. Like countless others, I recall when Soul Train made it's debut. I used to hurry with Saturday chores so I'd bee done before the "Soul Train came through my town."
I can still see Domita Jo and the Soul Train Dancers dance down the Soul Train Line, strutting hip young fashion as we witnessed the latest steps. Who can forget the countless Black talents or the Soul Train "chugging along the track into a commercial- Johnson and Johnson, or the Soul Train Scramble? None who heard his voice can ever forget, "Wishing you love, peace, and Soul" in that deep rich voice.
I pray that God will give his family and friends peace and understanding during their time of sorrow.

Don when I heard you died
Brother I broke down and I cried
Didn't you know what you meant to the world
I grew up to you and Soul Train as a little girl
God has sent another soldier home
Dear Don you were never alone
No more sorrows no more fears
God will wipe away all of your tears
You had so many who loved you
You have left us all feeling so blue
I wish you could have called me had my number
You are gone forever in a deep slumber
Brother Don it could not have been that bad
God can upturn any heart that is sad
No more sorrows Mr. Cornelius no more fears
I sit here for you shedding so many tears
Revelations 21:4 death and pain shall be no more
Is it just Mr. Don Cornelius That you just could not wait
Wait to see God and Jesus and enter heaven's gate.
I will never forget you or Soul Train
But for now my tears fall like the rain
I love you Mr. Don Cornelius
Rest in Peace
