Condolence & Memory Journal

I learned so much about the man, Orson Bean, through the various postings. Only knew him from his character on "Dr. Quinn." May his family and friends remember him as an accomplished entertainer, loving family man, and loyal friend. Know that he is in God's memory until he receives his rich reward.

He was in Cleveland for a book signing at Crocker Park about 10 years ago or more. His wife (Ally) was also there. He talked about his life. How he gained his education from reading 25 cent books, his strict father, tough upbringing and on and on it goes. He was such a real person. Many of the people there asked questions about Johnny Carson and other celebrities but i wanted to know more about how he broke free from his early life to become who he is an amazing, thoughtful, loving man. Ally, I am so sorry for your loss.

My life was graced by meeting this man for only 60 minutes. Rest in peace Orson.

Thank you for your service to this nation.

I liked Orson Bean on "To Tell the Truth" when I was just a kid, but what really endeared him to me was when he appeared on Dennis Miller's radio show, and more recently, his podcast. He shared his Christian faith in such a winsome (and occasionally shocking) way. This led me to read one of his books, and to watch his one-man show, "Safe at Home" on YouTube. What a life he had! I know he's in Heaven now with his Lord, and probably hugging his beloved son-in-law Andrew Breitbart, too. My deepest condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren.

Posted by Elizabeth M Whitcomb - Starksboro, VT   February 10, 2020

I was so upset when I heard this because I am in my 60's and have been his fan since I was very young. Loved watching him on old game show and in everything he appeared in. My favorite role he did was Mr. Bray on Dr. Quinn.

He was certainly a multi-talented man and everyone always seemed to have only great things to say about him.

I was thrilled when he married his beautiful wife, Alley and when their characters fell in love on Dr. Q too. I'm so glad they had so many years together but wish they would have had more here in this life. They will someday because love never dies.

My deepest condolences and my heart goes out to Alley and their family; to Mr. Bean's friends and fans.

Thanks Mr. Bean for a lifetime of great performances; for much laughter and often tears.

It's God's Will And We Must Comply
By: Charles G. Turner, Sr.

Life is uncertain,
But as sure as we are born one day we must die
Sometimes we sit and wonder why
The fact is it's God's will and we must comply.

Throughout our lives we live through happiness and sadness
And many toils and strife
And when our earthly life is over we enter into our eternal life

Whenever a loved one or friend makes their earthly depart
It is natural for it to bring hurt and sorrow to our heart
And to deal with our loss we grieve, mourn, and cry
In all essence we must remember this is God's will
And we all must comply

For those of us that are left behind
We must cherish the special memories
And keep them all in mind
Just remember it is not for
us to question why we have to die
It's God's will and we all have to comply

May God Bless and comfort all of you

I was so deeply saddened to hear the sad news of Orson's

I grew up in a small town, Franklin, New Hampshire. As a young boy, I would look forward to watching "To Tell The Truth", and seeing my favorite panelists, Orson Bean & Kitty Carlisle.

I ended up moving to Santa Monica, California after Amherst College, and began my career in commercial real estate. My first big client was Mark Goodson Productions, the producer of "To Tell The Truth".

I had the pleasure of meeting Kitty Carlisle on her 90th Birthday tour, and when she died, Orson was the last living panelist of "To Tell The Truth".

A very special part of my childhood was taken away much too soon in that tragic accident in Venice on Friday evening, just two miles from my home in Santa Monica.

He will live on forever in so many hearts, including mine.

My deepest sympathy and my prayers are with his wife Alley, and his children and with all of his family & friends at this very sad time.

The world is a more beautiful place because of Orson Bean. Garry Moore welcomed him to the set of "To Tell The Truth" every evening, and now Garry and Kitty and all of the other panelists were waiting with their arms extended in Heaven to welcome Orson home.
