Condolence & Memory Journal

Back in early 1990's I was a starving actor waiting tables at a restaurant in Burbank Ca. Bob and his whole family would come in each Sunday night after his radio show and I would wait on his table. He was the nicest, kindest, and most generous customer I ever waited on. Rest in Peace Bob. Thanks for the great memories.

I discovered Bob as I lay in a hospital bed recovering from brain surgery. I was 13, and nearly 40 years later, I am deeply saddened over his sudden passing. What a great loss to country music. He was countrys Casey Kasem, and no one can ever replace him! RIP, Bob. I miss you so much!

As someone who worked in radio for 35 years in northeast Missouri, southeast Iowa and west central Illinois, I had the chance to interview many country stars who came through our area: the Oak Ridge Boys, Ronnie Milsap, Mickey Gilley, Aaron Tippin, Lorrie Morgan and MANY others. I honed my skills by listening to Bob Kingsley on KMEM 100.5 FM in Memphis, Missouri. We mourn the loss of this great country legend. R.I.P. Bob Kingsley.

Bob put his heart and soul into what he did. An amazing and inspirational figure. Bob's enthusiasm for the artists he introduced was contagious for us all but was probably most appreciated by the artists themselves, who considered it a sign that they had made it, when their name was announced by Bob.

To know him was to love him. A kindred spirit and truly young at heart. A wonderful human heart reaching out filling the needs of others every chance he had. It seemed that Bob would live forever as his spirit had no boundaries and his heart was open. He was always leading the way.
First introduced to him through his voice every Sunday morning on the "Country Countdown", then meeting him through a mutual love of songwriters. Loved listening to him introduce the next new songwriter which you could hear in his voice was cheering them on to hit that #1 spot on the charts. The size of his heart far exceeded his influence. His presence graced this earth for those that knew him. Even at the age of 80 his life ended way too early.
I am blessed to have a wonderful memory of his kindness and generosity to share.
A couple years ago when Garth Brooks connected with Sirius XM to launch the Garth Channel 55 there was an invitation only concert held at the Ryman Auditorium. Although i did not have a ticket i just went to the Ryman to be around the positive energy. As i stood outside people watching, Bob and Nan walked by me and when they saw me turned and both gave me a hug. As we chatted, Bob asked me where i was sitting in the concert. I responded " I will actually be standing outside since i don't have a ticket" Bob responded "well maybe not, lets hope". They both continued on into the concert. Within a five minute window, a security guard came over to me and asked "are you Donna?", i responded "yes" , he said "please follow me i have a ticket for you" and escorted me into the Ryman. As i came up to Bob to thank him for getting me in, he said to me "we wouldn't have it any other way".
Bob's spirit had a bright light and will live on through each and every heart that he touched here on earth. My heart and prayers are with you Nan and his family. May God wrap his loving arms around you and bring you love and comfort.

with love,
Donna Jung
