"Spirit move on, move on. Pass my eyes on, on to the next one, I will be long gone, long gone. Across the distance, this divide, I will be with you forever, Till you reach the other side.
So hold on, sing this life song." (Spirit is the Journey). Johnny- your songs integrated into my DNA. May your words and rhythms echo through the ages.

All my sympathie to the family and friends, I was really fortunate having the chance to meet in Vancouver 2 years ago while is was shopping for his son coming to study. I am from Quebec and I had the chance to connect with his songs and dance at the summer festival in Quebec city long time ago. I am a big fan and I will miss him but he will always have a place in my heart. Farewell our zulu blanc.

What a uniquely African musician fellow Witsie Johnny was, and way ahead of his time especially under apartheid. I'm glad he and his groups got the international recognition they deserved. A sad loss to South African music. My deepest condolences to his family.

Like Mandela you were a inspiration to SA and the world. Fearlessly showing us all that unity in diversity can achieve the vision of a rainbow nation. May we all have the courage to pick up where you and Mandela took us as a nation to and continue down that road towards Hope, Understanding, Respect and Love for our fellow human travellers

Love Johnny and his music. I discovered him in 1987 and saw hime four times in three different states. He walked across a parking lot in Boulder CO to say hello after his show there in 1992. A great man full of humility. Johnny made the world a more hopeful and beautiful place despite its ugliest features

Dear Johnny
May you fly high in peace in the African sky. Thank you for all you have done, not only musically and culturally, but also for teaching us that friendship and love should not be based upon colour or race. Your music has been a cross cultural inspiration, and I have and will always carry it in my heart. Thank you for your time on Earth, and for letting us get to know you and share your life with you. You will be missed, but your music will run in the veins of South Africa and your fans. Go in peace, Sala Khale
Hugs from a little Scatterling ❤

I would like to express my appreciation for the music and example set by Mr Clegg. I was introduced to his music by my eldest brother when I was in my teens. Throughout my life I have often referred back to his songs. The last time using one of his songs for a corporate background song. A giant in South African music and a real example of how to live in a diverse culture.
