Nancy Wilson was my first real Heart throb. Although I never met her in person, I caught one of her performances in 1963-64 in Reno Nevada prior to my going to Viet Nam. That moment she looked down at me , will forever be burned in my memory.
Prior to today (06.13.2019) I no idea she had passed. Im devastated, but shell live on in my heart.

I remember the first time going to my music/choir class at West High School and there was an autographed picture of Ms. Wilson hanging on the wall by the teacher (Mrs. White). I never really understood who she was until later in life after high school graduation. I also later learned she was a cousin of friends and had returned to the city for a family reunion. I never got to meet her but always heard wonderful stories. After listening to her music, all I can say is "pure class". Thank you.

As Ms. Wilson was originally from Chillicothe Ohio, a framed record album of hers, Hurt So Bad, hung for 15 years in a local chain restaurant. Every visit to the store, I'd quiz the server or a patron if they knew who the pretty lady in the record album was. I'd then give the story of Nancy Wilson and her connection to Chillicothe where a street is also named in her honor. When the restaurant closed, the owner gave me the framed album which now hangs in my business where I can still share her story.Rest in peace Nancy. Thank you for your music!

I feel this lost deeply in my soul. I never wanted you to leave but I didnt want you to suffer. Your music was a life jacket for this sad girl in youth and beyond. I went to all your performances and when I met you after your Carnegie Hall show I couldnt tell you why I loved you so much. You never knew you songs saved my life as darkness took my joy. I could cry and release the pain.
Thank you for your daughters, two special women as they shared pictures and accepted my best wishes for you after their father died. Sending you messages was my way of saying God loves you and He was taking care of you and your girls.
I will always love you

Listening to the music and melodic and screeching dynamic vocalization of Nancy Wilson growing up, truly pales in comparison if at all possible to the distinct pleasure of working with, talking to and getting to know her. Her voice is as outstanding as her person. Both of which I will forever cherish; Neither of which will I ever forget.

Your voice, singing or talking, is a part of me and continues on in my head and heart.
Journey on Nancy Wilson. I thank you for your dedicated realness and kindness, and thank God for the many blessing composed in you. Love you! --JLDean

Ms. Wilson, my Mom always loved you, while my Dad loved John Coltrane. Yet I am the most blessed, because I had the joy of listening to and loving you all.

There should be a title which we could confer upon the one per cent of one per centers, like Ms. Nancy Wilson. A kind of Summa Cum Laude title for 'Lady Nancy' a most special human being.

Nancy Wilson will always be my favorite singer. Enjoyed every concert. I made it to her dressing room several times with theatrics of being a relative. She was always kind and allowed me stay with her. She could have had security to carry me out. Her words before departing her dressing room was, "Be GOOD." I listen to her music often. She will be missed! I love you. Thanks for the GREAT music and for not having a fan carried out of your dressing room. As a kid in the 1960's my mom played her albums and I grew a fondness for her music.
Rest in peace Nancy Wilson.

Nancy. Oh What A Voice.
I loved to hear Nancy take the lyrics of the song and mold it into her lyrical masterpiece. Like an artist Nancy would sculpt each word, each nunance of a song with her signature touch like no other. Listen to I Wish I Never Meet You or An Older Man Is Like An Elegant Wine , to hear her style her craft at its best.
So rest now my sweet Nancy. Thank you for blessing us with your gift.
We will have your voice in song to live on in our hearts always.

Now Moved On To Her Next Life, Which She Will Excell In, Moreso Than The Previous Because Of Her Great Accomplishments.

Miss Wilson, You Will Allways Be With Us , In Song And Memory.

My sincere condolences to Nancy Wilson's family and thank you for letting her share her awesome talent with the world. I become a Nancy fan as teenager, truly loved her voice, a graceful lady oozing with dignity and class, without a doubt my favorite singer - song stylist. I was very fortunate to see her perform many times and brought her recordings in every format, I also kept a Nancy fan book. Years ago while visiting Japan I spent time looking for and finding an abundance of Nancy's recordings; it reminded me that Nancy's talent was loved, respected and appreciated around the world. So family know that she touched many far and near with her voice, deeds and kindness; her love of family, her talent, her dedication to her craft and to those surrounding her is a testament to truly honoring Gods plan.

My mother and I played LP's: Yesterday's Love Songs-Today's Blues/Hello Young Lovers/How Glad I Am/Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You. ( I remember the night she came home with that one in January 1970. I was 5 and 1/2). We also had Face it Girl on a 45. My aunt had Now I'm A Woman.
I had no siblings. My parents divorced when I was an infant. I would play her LP's until my mother came home from work.

So beautiful, intelligent, and poised with a voice that entranced my soul. I danced with my dachshund to The Grass Is Greener, Satin Doll, and Trip With Me while dreaming of growing up, living in CA, and seeing her in a nightclub...As if.

Later, I joined the USN, was stationed in S.D. and when I got out, moved to SF. I finally saw her. By myself 1994. Kimball's. Perfection personified. That feeling when your dream becomes reality. Best concert ever.

Back in Dallas after my mother passed. Mrs. Fountain, mothers best friend, told me that a relative had a janitorial service in CA and knew Miss Wilson. She wanted a singing career, he flew her out, and Miss Wilson was gracious enough to invite Mrs. Fountain to her home, listen to her, and tell her when she was ready, she'd help her.

Nancy Wilson, in the 64, with her own blossoming career, and she's already willing to help another person. My mouth flew open. Mrs. Curtis Jean Fountain told me that just before she died. She had a beautiful voice but said she decided to stay close to her husband and children.

Miss Wilson, who could have chosen to simply focus on her well earned success
and family, extended her Heavens Hands, long before she sang the song. She lived her generosity.

May her family and friends be comforted in the blessings her voice and her life gave us all.

Best song stylist in the business. I own every album and CD available. Such a classy, elegant lady -- she set the bar high. She will be missed by all who knew her and the incredible oeuvre of music she leaves behind. One true regret in my life is that I did not get to see her perform in person.

I loved her. I would sing all of her songs. Because of Ms. Wilson I wanted to be a singer, I trained my voice to sound a bit like her. I idolized Ms. Wilson. Two of my favorite songs; The Music That Makes Me Dance and You Can Have Him I Dont Want Him. I saw her in concert many years ago and that was the happiest day of my life. I am very grateful to Ms. Wilson for her music, her talents, her gifts of song and her generosity of sharing her talents. I am saddened that she passed away but, How Glad I am that I had an opportunity to hear and see her in concert. May GOD rest your soul. Thank you Ms Wilson. Forever a Fan!

I was fortunate to spend time with her when she performed at Rockefellers in Houston, TX for two nightly performances in the late 90s . My friend did her makeup and I volunteered to bring her snacks that I prepared especially to her likings. What a true Lady. Ive been her biggest fan since I was a little girl. She shared her love of family and Christ with me while in a relaxed setting in her dressing room. As always, her performances both nights were outstanding!! I treasure the photo that she took with us. She was such a gift to my life. I have most of her music collection. May you Rest In Peace. The Queen of Jazz!! You will be missed. We loved you dearly!!!

My dad pulled over to the nearest phone booth to try to win tickets. It was then that I realized my Dad had two loves my mom and Nancy Wilson's voice. I too grew to love her musical stylings. As a matter of fact, I'm listening to her sing "The Christmas Waltz," right now. What a classy lady. I just found out today that her spirit has passed on. I will truly miss her. I played a lot Nancy Wilson tunes over the years, and yesterday as I decorated the Christmas tree it was all Nancy WIlson tunes. Her work with civil rights showed people her concerns. She was and shall remain a superb woman of the times. She showed a lot of folks out of racism. Yes, I'm white but I learned there was never a need to be that way. Don't know if I still want to be here on this side, or hasten my trip to the other side to get my fix of your voice. Heaven is now so much better to look forward to with you there to welcome the chosen few, of which I pray to be one of......

I have always loved her voice! Grew up listening to her since the 1960s and especially love How Glad I Am. Also loved her rendition of Mercy, Mercy, Mercy (I can actually recall the very day I heard her singing this in 1967 while in Jamaica) and was blown away! Regrettably didnt get to see her live. The consummate song stylists. Sincere condolences to all her family.

From all of us who attended West High School in Columbus with Nancy, she will be sorely missed. Her talent was discovered at an early age and we all knew she would become famous. Also she never forgot those who knew her during her early years....whenever we saw her she was always always glad to see us. She also lived a personal life away from the cameras and we never never heard anything bad about Nancy. She was truly a great person with a level head. I once got to see her at Carnegie Hall and was so proud of her. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
