I'm 66 and only discovered his music 2 months ago. It appealed to me so much I went online to find out if he would be touring the UK again, only to see the announcement of his death. So sad to see such a talented man with no trace of 'celebrity' pass on. At least I have 60 years of his music to catch up on. Thank you TJW x

I first became aware of Tony Joe in 1969 when "Polk Salad Annie" was all over the radio. I immediately got the 45 R.P.M. single and then of course had to turn it over to listen to the other side. When I heard "Aspen, Colorado" I was hooked; I bought his first album and countless others over the years. One of my all-time favorite musicians, whose earthy, soulful and often beautiful music I really connect with. My deepest sympathies to the family. Tony Joe was a class act of the highest order!!

Just got 'Closer to the Truth'... For fifty plus years, I've had a love affair with the hauntingly beautiful song, 'Rainy night in Georgia'. Believing all the time it was an Brook Benton original. Even though it was a beautiful rendition by Mr. Benton and the artful guitar work of Cornell Dupree, I am remiss that the artistry of Tony Joe White were entirely unknown to Me until his passing. Where have I been?. Anyway, thank God for recordings. Master White left a treasure-trove for our ears forever. May He rest in paradise in the presence of the 'ALL' and our Musical ancestors. Family be strong in Love and please accept My humble and most heart-felt condolence.

I wish to offer my sincere condolences to the family of Tony Joe White. He was gifted as a songwriter and performer and his music was timely and moving. I saw Boz Scaggs perform "Rainy Night in Georgia" and it brought back memories from my childhood. What a beautiful mind to write such moving songs as well as "Polk Salad Annie" which was just a fun but powerful song which got people on their feet and moving... I saw him perform on TV many times over the years and hoped to see him in a live performance one day. God bless this great but humble genius.

His performance on Austin City Limits is my favorite swamp boogie artist set. "Even Trolls love rock n roll" is great wah wah pedal backing of a funny ballad. Saw him on the Johny Cash show in the late talented a balladeer as they come. Knowing his songs was always a testament to coolneess when someone would step in with my band and ask to do one of his tunes. "listenin' to Tony Joe White on the radio" is a lyric from a recent song....

My heartfelt condolences to Tony's family and friends during this difficult time.
I hope the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort knowing there is hope for the ones we have lost in death.

Just yesterday, out of the blue, the thought of Tony Joe White and 'Poke Salad Annie' stormed through my head. Honest to God, yesterday, Wednesday October 24 around 2 to 3pm. I felt the strongest urge to listen to that song....and this after not having heard it in 3 or 4 years. RIP Mr.White...the guy had a one in a billion voice.
