To the family of John McCain, I have found a new respect for Mr. McCain. I watched a lot of MSNBC when he was running for president. This man has certainly been thru a lot in his short life. He truly was a patriot for all the people. When I saw him tell a lady that Obama was not a muslim, but was truly a decent family man, I cried & continue to cry whenever I think of him. He too was a decent family man. I am democratic, but I have a new outlook on things because of him. Thank you for your service sir. Rest in Peace John. You are truly loved & missed! Say HI to my mom & dad. I know you are all together & I will see you all soon!

Did my freshman year English Composition on the Prisoners of War returning from Viet Nam. Though that was 45+ years ago, I remember clearly the torture, mentally, emotionally, physically that these men endured. Hat's off to John McCain and every other war p.o.w. having served in the US military, ever.

I did not know John McCain. I am not a Republican. However, I did vote for him in the 2008 elections. I felt he was the best qualified to be our president and one rare person who had integrity, compassion, empathy, courage and valor. I would have been proud to call him my president. However, his voice continued in the Senate, standing by his convictions without fearing nor thinking of repercussions. A great loss to his family and to this country he so proudly fought for. My deepest condolences to his entire family. His soul served his purpose in this lifetime...

How does one honor and thank Senator John McCain, and all of our Veterans, for the important work that they've done in keeping our nation safe and free?.....I would like to offer a Prayer for Veterans:.....Proud of our nation, they answered her call---Defending the freedom and safety of all. On land or on sea, or in jets high above, They went out of duty and honor and love. But, however they served, Lord, wherever they went.....Please bless them and help them to know what it meant!.....And help us to thank them on Veterans Day --- For we owe them far more than we ever could say.

When a young, U.S. Naval Academy graduate, John McCain entered into his service in the Navy as a fighter jet pilot who had to make bombing missions over North Vietnam, that war had just started up. Before long, he found himself on a mission where his plane was shot down by a North Vietnamese rocket. When he was captured in North Vietnam, he spent five and a half years in the "Hanoi Hilton" prison. In order to honor John McCain, and his service to our Country, I would just like to say that a movie on DVD, that was made in 2005, shows what he had to endure for those years. The title of the movie is, "Faith of My Fathers," from the book that John McCain wrote by the same title.

It is with great sadness to the McCain family, I send my deepest and heartfelt condolences of losing your beloved husband and father. John McCain and I are probably as different as they come, yet the feelings of looking out for the underdog, feeling compassion for honesty and bipartisanship, mostly his forgiving spirit and biblical example represents his wonderful civility and decency to all people.
Senator McCain is now eternally alive and his spirit will watch over his wonderful wife Cindy and beautiful children until they meet again. Thank you Senator McCain for looking to the soul of people and respecting view points of all. We mourn with you and are here to support you. God Bless you all!!
Mrs. McCain, I hope you take his seat as you would honor him best.

Words can't begin to express the admiration I feel for this special man (I didn't personally know) and for his entire family who so bravely laid him to rest before a nation of grieving Americans. The speakers at all the services, especially his daughter Megan's words, accurately described the character, ethics, and personality of this man who was not only a POW, a politician, father and husband but a man who could fight a good fight and get beyond any differences...a quality so many people, especially politicians, lack. May this American war hero Rest In Peace and may his family be comforted by the love the entire American nation feels.

It has been 8 days since the nation lost its original hero, Cindy lost her husband and all 7 of his children lost their father and 5 grandchildren lost their Grandfather. The nation has ceased most operations of normalcy over the past 4 days to show respect, sympathies and love family for Senator John McCain. The services offered humor, it offered praise and it offered respect to a man who always offered the nation hope. During the services, Cindy led the family showing her pain & sorrow, using her sons for strength & comfort. We are far from understanding or realizing what kind of person we have lost. The nation needs to take a few moments to understand the depth and the absolute void that this country is gong to be suffering for the very long and painful days ahead. Then and only then, can we move on never forgetting John McCain and the person he was, yet making a decision to live in his shadow and always trying to live by his example. I can only & hope that as the media turn away, the attention leaves, the pain and grief lead to the comfort of memories, laughter and love for the McCain family in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Senator McCain was a true American patriot who served his country with honor and distinction as a Naval aviator, POW, Congressman and Senator.
It is our fervent hope that Congress will honor John not only be re-naming the Senate building but putting a statue in his honor within it.

THE HONORABLE JOHN McCain!
The iconic American of two centuries who distinguished himself in serving his beloved country both in time of war and peace- upholding the interest of his country first. He taught us a lot and the current and succeeding generations will always remember him as a hero and for his exemplary contributions to the AMERICAN GREATNESS both at home and abroad. He stood up for a greater cause than himself-country, duty and honor.
We love you and uphold your legacy for posterity.
Your velour and heroic country services will shine above your grave like a shining city on the hill. You stood with the oppressed, disadvantaged destitute people and fought for democracy and justice for all without ethnic origin, race, color and nationality- embracing internationalism!
We pray to the All Mighty God to REST you in PEACE.

John McCain will always be remembered in our hearts forever. A man who spoke his truth without regard for repercussions. He represents the American ideals and leaves a legacy that will be carried forward not only by his family, but by the American people he served and respected. Respect for mankind reminds all of us that politics should not be a guiding force in how we treat one another. For all the good that John McCain stood for, it was his unflinching belief in treating all people with dignity, and respect regardless of their circumstances. The world has lost a great guiding light, however, the glow of his life lives on. God bless John McCain. My sincerest condolences to the McCain family.

As a Democrat, I often disagreed with John McCain on many issues, but never with his values. I am watching the funeral ceremony with tears. I believe in his compassion, his love of country & family, and his true gift to the American people.

John was a true patriot, hero, and American.

May his life always be a shining star for us all and bring us together again as a nation. May his family always find joy in the wonderful memories of such an amazing husband, father, and grandfather.

Senator McCain,
We are hurting. You have gone on to your Heavvenly rest. Your door was always open, and through your love and compassion help heal my grieving soul when my brother a Vietnam vet passed. You rock words of encouragement and you and your staff have been my angels. You NEVER backed away from any injustice. You gave voice to me a woman of color. You was also a strong father figure. My heart is breaking. I do not know why God called you home now, but you made this world a better place. You blazed a trailer for us all. One day when it is my time to go I hope to see you and catch up. God bless you and your family.

Technically, I was a shipmate (U.S.S. Forrestal CVA-59, Westpac cruise (Vietnam era)) of Senator John McCain. He will be missed. He understood the need to protect and to represent the American people.

The two party political system of our forefathers was to have one party in power and the other party to give an opposing view. Then for both parties to work together for the good of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. Senator John McCain understood that.

Sen. McCain believed it was our duty to make the most of the freedoms we enjoy. He pursued this goal his entire career.

In the times I worked with him, he demonstrated the kind of poise and dedication you'd hope to see from a public servant, but rarely do... Including taking a moment during an important appearance in Show Low to give some encouraging words to this new PIO starting his government career.

RIP Maverick.

Dear Family:
I share in your loss. I have lost my dad at age 17, and I have just buried my Mom. I wanted to say I know that you are having a hard time of accepting his departure, but I know that He is with the Lord, Yahweh! I would like to encourage you to follow Senator John McCain's beliefs in God and in his love for others so that you can see him again in our heavenly home. The bible says that the dead in Christ will rise first then those of us who are alive who are God's servants. The Lord showed me yesterday as I watched ABC's news, that Senator John McCain is with the Lord. As a pastor, I want to quote a scripture for him; "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness with the Lord, the righteous judge will give to me on that day and not to me only but to all that have loved his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7&8 Sincerely, Pastor Peter Francois

Dear McCain Family,
It never occurred to me until these past few days how much the loss of Senator McCain really touched the core of my being. I suppose I always reserved that portion of me when I lost my Dad 52 yrs ago. The Senator was truly the essence of what we all hope to attain prior to our transition. He truly left his mark on what it means to be: a great statesman, hero, husband and fathera giant of a man.
May you all be blessed with God's healing light. I know John is sitting at the right hand of the Lord.
With my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to you all.

As a lifelong Democrat, politically you couldn't have been more different than me. As a proud citizen of the United States, we are alike.

Your service to this country, both militarily and as an elected official, is a shining example of patriotism and this country will sorely miss.

In this time of political unrest and divide, your bipartisanship and steady leadership is still needed.

I hope you rest in God's loving arms. God bless you and God bless America.

Technically, as a fellow shipmate (U.S.S. Forrestal CVA-59, Westpac) Sen. John McCain will be greatly missed. He understood what our forefathers wanted from a multi party political system. One party in power and another party to put forward different views --- and then to work together for the BETTERMENT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

He did not always follow his party line, but he did work for all the American people.

I was very sorry to hear about Senator John McCain passing. I wrote him a letter when he was first diagnosed and I received a response (I was happy that he would respond to regular me). He was a man of integrity. When he voted, you could take it to the bank that it wasn't a deal; it was what he truly believed. Politicians carry a bad reputation but Senator John McCain proved that you could be a politician and have integrity. When I think of Senator John McCain adjectives like trustworthy, honor, upright, high ethics and standards, and compassionate come to my mind. Those words come to my mind as a citizen of America. So I can only image the words that come to the mind of his wife, mother, children, sibling, and other family and friends. We can only hope that our love ones are in heaven but I believe that Senator John McCain heard the words "well done thy good and faithful servant". May God Bless You All.

I did not know John McCain personally, however, I was serving in Vietnam at the same time in 1967. Through a close friend I was privileged to visit John's senate office and very proud to be presented with one of his POW MIA flags which holds pride of place in my living room. A great man now at peace. Thank you for your service. Condolences to family and friends.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Hello to the McCain Family and Special Friends. It really hurt me to hear of the passing of a very strong and brave man that went above and beyond fighting for justice for those that are less fortunate in the system, especially with the Medicaid issue. In spite of his health conditions with brain cancer. He was a person of peace and fairness. He will always be remembered in our hearts as a very loving and devoted man that also knows what its like to suffer and hurt too (being a prisoner of war ). He is very well missed by so many love ones. As for this family I would love to say We really appreciate him and truly wished that there were more people in the world like him. We really miss him deeply and again Thank You So Much Mr. John McCain for sharing your heart with so many people You deserve all honor. May God Bless and Keep Your love ones safe and strong. his statesmanship and leadership will be respected forever. Senator McCain exhibited the best of American values through service to our nation and will remain an example of courage. My late husband, Captain Joseph Coluzzi,OSC, Merchant Vessel Lopez, home port Saipan (Kaipat) was a US Marine during the Vietnam war and was also a POW. When Joe passed away in 1998 I knew only that Joe was missing. The Senator's constituent, Sherry Richardson was on Saipan at that time. She directed my inquiries to McCain's office, where my correspondence was received by a gracious and concerned staff. The fact there were concerned people brought a ray of light into my life. In 1989 Senator McCain nominated my son to the Air Force Academy. This was a very meaningful and gracious thing for Senator McCain to do as I am a single mother of 3 children and it was going to be very difficult to send the 3rd child to college. He graduated in 1994 and then served 21 years in the Air Force serving both at GITMO and Afghanistan. He presently is working in the Department of Defense as a civilian. Senator McCain was a true patriot of this country. His dedicated service will be long remembered by my family and I. 5 years in a POW camp did not harden this man's love of his country. I am forever grateful for his dedication and his service. God speed, Senator McCain.

What can we say that you have never heard before. Your a great man, a great leader. A war Hero. A United States Senator. A true Maverick. The truest form of honesty and integrity. You took a chance of saving other POW's, by staying until they were safe and released. You stood up to others that would use propaganda against you. You were Republican, we are Democrats. We saw no difference in your treatment towards any political party. Thank you Senator John McCain for your service to our great Nation, The sacrifices made in the name lf Freedom. Your loyalty, devotion to your family is beyond comparison and a prime example for us to live by. Mrs. McCain. May God give you and your family peace and comfort during this busy , yet difficult time. Know that the World is keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. In deepest Sympathy.

My deepest condolences to Senator McCain's family. There are so many wonderful things to say about this highly ethical and deeply human public servant. Yes, he had flaws but he was the first to admit them. If our congress and senate could strive to adopt his authentic love for our nation and his commitment to represent our country regardless of political money and political partisanship we could make significant progress -- progress that so many Americans want and need. I thank this man for setting a high standard as a leader and the responsibility that holding public office requires. He fought hard for what he thought was right. And, he knew that rigorous debate and differences are important to create policy and laws that are beneficial to the American people. He fought hard for what he believed in but he also committed to pushing forward once the debate and arguments ended. He sought only for progress and making this country better. We will all miss him. Most important, we will miss his respect for political diversity and his deep love for this country. He was a pillar among men (and woman) and a true hero. God bless you and keep you John McCain. We pray your example as an exceptional public servant will serve as a catalyst for change.

I believe that it does take both sides to lead this nation. I do believe that the best path lays in compromise. I fear that we may have lost that ability to compromise with the loss of Mr. McCain. He was a true statesman and we have so few, now. I admire him for his honor. He, indeed, lived his life honorably. I believe he lead our people as God gave him the light to see his path. I am sending the McCain family my very deepest condolences. Ive followed Senator McCain for many, many years. I had the utmost respect for him. He always strived to bring politicians together not to his side necessarily just together. His passing is a great loss to the American people, the senate and of course his family and friends. He will be missed. To his courageous family- may you memories wrap around you and at some point ease a bit of your grief. You are in my thoughts and prayers. RIP John. I wish I could have met you

I am just an everyday American. My husband passed last July from cancer as well. It's an awful diagnosis for everyone, but for those in the public eye, it's so much more. I have followed your situation as did my husband until he passed. My Greg was a veteran of the USMC and the opinions and thoughts of Senator McCain were all that he trusted. Even after 32 years of marriage, we never spoke of our political affiliation. I know however, we both had and have the a great level of respect and appreciation of John McCain, the man. There are so few people in our lives that represent the very best of this great country, and that is and will always be John McCain to my Greg, and to me. Thank you sir, for your values and perseverance, those qualiteis know no political bounds. We will forever miss your presence and your voice of reason.

On the news of the passing of Sen. McCain, as a Dutchman I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and close friends. John McCain, I believe, was an extraordinary man. I followed him since the early 2000s: and unlike most of my countrymen, or indeed most Europeans, in both 2000 and 2008 I hoped that he would become the next US President. I believe that he would have been a great President. Instead, he remained a great Senator and a great man. He saw himself, I think, as very American: but I always saw something of the classic Greek and Roman public man in him: always putting the commonwealth before his own interest, with a keen eye for his own flaws, but with the iron will to be the best man that he could. He was, perhaps, somewhat of a modern Cincinnatus - a warrior poliitician. America, and the world, are a poorer place without John McCain. May the Lord of Hosts bide him welcome to His table - and may you find solace in the shining example that he will forever remain.

To: The McCain Family
Sen. McCain fought a good fight and he kept the faith.
It's God's Will And We Must Comply
By: Charles G. Turner, Sr.

Life is uncertain,
But as sure as we are born one day we must die
Sometimes we sit and wonder why
The fact is it's God's will and we must comply.

Throughout our lives we live through happiness and sadness
And many toils and strife
And when our earthly life is over we enter into our eternal life

Whenever a loved one or friend makes their earthly depart
It is natural for it to bring hurt and sorrow to our heart
And to deal with our loss we grieve, mourn, and cry
In all essence we must remember this is God's will
And we all must comply

For those of us that are left behind
We must cherish the special memories
And keep them all in mind
Just remember it is not for
us to question why we have to die
It's God's will and we all have to comply

May God Bless and comfort all of you

I just wanted to express my condolences at the passing of Sen. John McCain. I live in Halifax Nova Scotia and I believe that he had visited our city as part of an annual security conference.

I saw the video clip on the news where Sen. McCain had spoken to a woman about Barack Obama and indicated that Mr. Obana was a decent good person. It was so nice to see that clip and see this fine example of human decency rather than the mean-spirited vitriol which seems to typify so much of public life.

Hopefully the example he set will be an inspiration for others and re-affirm the goodness that men and women are capable of.

My condolences to the McCain family and friends. I always thought John was a true politician working for the citizens of this country. It didn't always have to be the Republican way where John was concerned and that showed by his working with the Democrats to serve the voters as best he could. Our country is a better place for John and his service and he will be missed. Unfortunately I never had the honor of meeting him. You fought a good battle John now it is your turn to take a rest.

To the McCain Family I send my heartfelt condolences. As a life long Democrat I did not always agree with John McCain but I always respected him. He was true to himself almost always and when he failed he admitted it and took responsibility for his mistakes. It is a sad irony that he and Senator Ted Kennedy died on the same day 9 years apart of the same brutal disease. They were partisans but not enemies and worked together so often to accomplish good things for our country.
I hope we will see his like again but I doubt it. He was one of a kind- an original work of art.

Sir, there will not be another John McCain. It is my hope that in the process of your service as a U.S. Senator you inspired one or more than one young person to pick up your torch and stay your course. There is NO DOUBT that you served honorably. I'm a Democrat. I voted for you in 2008. I made that decision not based on political philosophy, but because I thought then that you were the leader that this country was in such dire need of. You proved that by staying in the fight in the Senate. I believe that you ultimately became the conscience of the mainstream Republican representation. Nobody can thank you sufficiently for ALL of your service to the country. The best we can hope for is future active service by those that you influenced.

Senator John McCain was a part of my adult life and I grew to respect him as a man who loved his country and was worthy of respect. He was a true hero and will be greatly missed. My condolences to his wife and family.

My prayers go out to Mr. McCain's family, I have been praying for him since he first announced his medical condition.
I felt Mr. McCain was a true American, who fought for those things that were truly important to him.
I for one will miss his courage, and real honesty, and his love for this country.
In my opinion John McCain was true to the American way of life.
His beliefs, and all that he fought to preserve, I voted for him for President.
I was saddened when he lost, I say this with great honor of a great human-being.

Senator McCain, You were such an incredible, courageous individual in all ways. Forever a giver. You were always the Real Person. No pretense ever. You gave everyone, and everything your all , and tackled all challenges with that winning attitude, but always 150 % a true Gentleman. I had the privilege of meeting you, and waiting on you at a bank in McLean, Virginia where I was a bank teller. We always hoped U would step into our line as U always enlightened our day. Thank you for your service, and all the good U brought to our country. You were, and always will be a hero to all. You will truly be missed, in our hearts always, and never forgotten. What a legacy! Death throws light on "virtues", while dismissing "shortcomings". The John McCain bio reveals plenty of both, for which he humbly acknowledged while conducting his personal and public actions. None can elude the criticism, wrath and condemnations that accrue with fame and its endless exposure to the "second guess". Most of us couldn't prevail within that milieu. This man did!

Not since John F. Kennedy was assassinated in1963 have I wept over the death of an American politician. Tonight I shed tears of sadness, anguish, and fear... Sen. McCain, I believe, was the last bastion of Honor in today's terrible atmosphere of slander, invectiveness, and political vitriol. We can only hope there is a surrogate in the wings who is willing to attempt to fill his shoes...who will continue his course of "honor above expediency".

My deepest sympathies to his family, I know the deep anguish and sadness loved ones experience when confronting the loss of a beloved family member.
