Thank you so much for being a wonderful First Lady. You always showed so much warmth and caring I felt like you were part of my family. You and George were wonderful parents and grandparents and the world would be a better place if people used you two as an example. Thank you too for being along side the President and giving him moral support while he was leading our country. I miss seeing your smiling face but you have truly earned your right to Rest In Peace.

TO THE FAMILY OF MRS. BARBARA BUSH;

MY HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY FOR YOUR LOSS. MRS BUSH WAS A WIFE, MOTHER AND NO DOUBT A GOOD FRIEND TO ALL WHO KNEW HER. IT SEEMS SO UNFAIR THAT DEATH SHOULD HAVE THE POWER TO TAKE AWAY SOMEONE YOU LOVE. AND WHEN IT HAPPENS, THE THOUGHT OF NEVER AGAIN BEING ABLE TO TALK TO, LAUGH WITH OR SIMPLY HOLD THEIR HAND CAN BE MOST DIFFICULT TO BEAR.

MAY YOU ALWAYS KEEP TREASURED MEMORIES OF MRS. BUSH IN YOUR HEART. AND MAY YOU ALSO FIND COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED ON IN DEATH GOD KEEPS IN HIS MEMORY BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL PRECIOUS IN HIS EYES.
(PSALMS 116:15)

RESPECTIVELY YOURS,

Our Beloved Prestdents, George and George W. Bush, and families: we are saddened by the loss of First Lady, wife, mother, grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend. These past few days, I have read different stories about her life. I, didn't realize how much she had done in her lifetime. Writing books, spending time with uneducated and reading disabled children. Being by her husband's side building a library in their names, but especially being an Ambassador of Goodwill, not only for the United States, but the whole world. The perfect job, only Mrs. Bush could take with her strong will and run with it. God Bless you all.

To the Bush family,
Losing a spouse or a mother is such a difficult thing and especially when it's someone as unique and unforgettable as Mrs. Bush.
What an interesting life she had; meeting people from all over the world, helping children and adults learn to read, and taking care of her family.
She touched many people she didn't even know with her humor, grace, and dignity. She really was a great lady.
You are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope your memories become like a warm blanket that surrounds you all.

Mrs. Bush stood for all that was the best, not only of Americans but the best of humankind. Your family was blessed to have her as your matriarch. Having lost my mom in 1992, who was also the glue who kept my family together, don't let her passing let you relax your closeness with each other, that would dishonour her. The way you all can best honour her is to follow her example and live the best lives you can. I am sure I follow your lead in saying I look forward to meeting her up there.

My fond memory of Barbara Bush was as a fellow lap swimmer at the Houstonian lap pool during the period her husband was our President. On the first occasion when Mrs. Bush entered the pool I thought to myself that she would swim for just a few minutes, to my surprise she swam steadily with a snorkel and mask for a full 45 minutes without a break! She was in good shape. On a subsequent occasion when Mrs. Bush was about to leave the pool a woman asked Mrs. Bush if she could take her picture. Mrs. Bush put her arm up and politely but firmly requested that the picture not be taken (as it clearly would not have been a flattering picture). The woman put down her camera and we all shared a laugh.

Although my remembrance of Mrs. Bush is of little consequence in the scheme of things, I am honored to have briefly been in her presence. The world is a better place for Barbara Bush having lived in it. Now Heaven is a better place. Rest in peace Barbara Bush and God be with the Bush family.

To My Favorite First Lady,
Thank you for being you. Thank you for the unconditional love you gave to the people of this country. Thank you for your knowing how to be your "own person" and never changing that design. That is true beauty - and total class, and you had it all. Thank you for your simple but classic sense of style. Thank you for your love of family. Thank you for your love of animals. Thank you for your sense of humor. Thank you for your keen sense of compassion. Thank you for being the kind of woman any other woman would love to have as a best friend and confidante. Thank you for caring enough to concern yourself with literacy. Thank you for influencing others to "want to" volunteer. Thank you for sharing your life with all of us who loved you so dearly. You are and always will be a true "First Lady". Rest in Peace.

I would be hard pressed to find a better role model. Although, I never met Mrs. Bush, her devotion to her family and to her country was one that I greatly admired and I always said, if I could be like one person, it would be Barbara Bush, however, I know that there will be no other like her, she was not only the matriarch to the Bush family, but she was a matriarch to our Country. To the Bush family, thank you for sharing Mrs. Bush with Country. Please accept by condolences and know that my prayers are with you all during this time. God Bless you all and God Bless America!

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. H. W. (Barbara) Bush. I have voted Republican since I have been voting. And I am a former poll manager in Spartanburg County. A big highlight of my life was seeing the big campaign bus at Wade's Rest. in 2016. I was thrilled to hear her speak and was privileged to speak to her son Neil. Of course, the reason we were there was to hear Jeb. I am going to wear my pearls this weekend to remember her and read one of her books.

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the family of Barbara Bush's. This past week I have learned so much from her. At 67 years of age, I am been having a hard time accepting getting older. As I watch the film clips highlighting her life, I now have a role model of how to age gracefully: staying active, not worrying about wrinkles, focusing on joy, a sense of humor and appreciation of family and life. I see what it is like to have a long and strong marriage. We have been married for 43 years, and I see our hand holding is truly the real deal. I appreciate my husband even more. Thank you, Mrs. Bush, for your strength and grace. Your influence will continue even after your passing.

A highlight of my career was an invitation to a luncheon at the White House by First Lady Barbara Bush, for arts presenters in D.C. At the lovely event's end, she introduced Millie's famous puppies. Most importantly, she exhorted museums and their staff to incorporate educational programs into their offerings. Her deep sincerity inspired me to inaugurate visual literacy programs led by students in the art gallery. Mrs. Bush was a remarkable and inspiring person and will be missed by all.

My heart and prayers go out to the Family. Know that she was and inspiration to so many people, myself included. I feel that she was the best First Lady this country has ever had because of her wit, compassion, and sincerity. I once met and shook hands with her Husband in South Texas. And though it was an honor to be shaking the hand of a sitting President I could not help but think, "Oh I wish it was Barbara". Keep the good memories and always remember how lucky you were for having had her as a Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Bless you.

Dear Mrs. Barbara Bush. In 2003. you and I inadvertently met when our paths crossed in the forest behind the Houstonian Hotel. I was short-cutting from a walk, and you, too, were walking alone, without your Secret Service Detail. They were not with you, but I am certain they were watching you, and watching us. We exchanged a few pleasantries. I told you that you look a lot like Barbara Bush. Your answer: "Oh, everyone tells me that." That's when I realized it really was you!
I told you I was from Salt Lake, and you replied: "Oh, how nice!" Although you engaged me with genuine interest, you only slightly slowed your stride. You are a steady, spiritual woman. We know that you live on, and that the Bush Family and all Families will be reunited, for Eternity, thanks to the Savior, and our following His Plan.
Although brief, it was fun to meet you, and learn of your gracious, yet determined personality. America will miss you and your style. We need more strong but sweet women, and confident but classy men. May the Good Lord bless, comfort, and cheer your family during this brief separation. And, God Bless America, and May God Bless our World!

Growing up in the Tanglewood area during the 50s & 60s we went to Grady Elementary with her children & also were some of the earliest members of St. Martin's. My Dad & HW were members of the River Oakes Breakfast Club. Seeing Mrs. Bush in her station wagon hauling the kids up & down Tanglewood Blvd. was a daily sight as well as seeing her at Rice Food Market. She was a uniquely great lady admired & loved by all. As you prepare to say goodbye to the Enforcer and Ganny celebrating her life
Know that the world loved this special woman and Presidential wife
She exuded the sweet caring essence of what a woman should aspire to be
Faithful, loyal, loving, friendly, Queenly, gracious for the world to see

Thanks for sharing her life with all of us, as we continue to strive for accord
In a world which has definitely lost, what we cannot afford
Dignity and grace that Mrs. Bush showed the world and her other gifts
Of espousing literacy, equality and family values not rifts

Celebrate her life and take pleasure in her memories and love
Look to the sky, at the stars and smile to her above
She will always be the Enforcer, Gannny and wife
Of an exemplary President who shared her great life

So to the family as your hearts are filled with sadness and pained
Know what heaven and the angels have gained
A woman of stature, faith, goodness and who was bold
Shine in heaven as you did on Earth, you are a Bush gold

Rest in peace dear lady. I always thought the world of you Mrs. Bush. I'm very sorry for your loss Mr. President and to all of your family I am thinking about you and praying for you up here in Spokane, Washington

Posted by Robert Asterino - Spokane, WA   April 19, 2018

Your answer: "Oh, everyone tells me that." That's when I realized it really was you.

And, God Bless America, and the World!

Our hearts are broken, Barbara Bush was the type of woman and First Lady, that made those who didn't know her personally, feel as it they did. We feel as though we've lost a beloved friend, and we have. Sadden by her death, but rejoicing in her Homecoming with our Lord and Savior, her precious Robin and all her many other friends and family members that were there waiting for Mrs. Bush to get home, waiting to greet and welcome her. There is no doubt whatsoever in our minds, that the moment Barbara Bush passed through Heaven's Gate she heard these words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Prayers for the Bush family and may the knowledge that their wife, mother, grandmother and loved one is now completely and totally healed, along with our Lord's promise of eternal life with Him in His Kingdom of Heaven help to bring them some measure of peace and comfort.

Showed America how to act while in public office. Like a nice refined lady. America will miss you forever. While visiting my sister in Maine she took me to a store in kennebunk me. A lady that looked like her was in the store I asked if she was Mrs Bush. "She said I get that asked A lot but said no. Your family demonstrates what service is. Love and patience. Thank you for all your years of service. Barbara remember that No one can fill your shoes. You wore what u wanted to wear and said it like you wanted to. I never met you but I wanted to say thanks for being our first lady. No else talks like me for I never could write a complete sentence so this is my work from the heart to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and maybe one day have great great grandkids run for president.

I remember way back when I was a little kid in my parent's car and driving by the Bush family's home in Kennebunkport, Maine. I distinctly remember riding by there one hot summer day and there was some sort of party going on outside. I assumed it was a child's birthday celebration considering there were several children running around on the lawn. Back then who would have guessed one of them would be a future president.
Barbara had it right:"... faith, family and friends..." In that particular order. We were blessed to have been able to call her our First Lady.
My sincere condolences to all who loved her.

Such a legacy, what a role model. What type of woman has a husband that elevates to be president of the United States then has a son also become president. She also had a son to be governor of Florida. The bible has scripture that states "you shall know a tree by the fruit it bears". I so admired Mrs Bush. My grandmother, had successful children too. I asked her how does it feel to have such a great family and that scripture came to mind. The veins of a gold mine run deep so do the veins in our bodies. I am sure the veins what produced such a legacy grow deep...God Bless the Bush family today....

A few years back, I purchased a daylily named " First Lady Barbara" It is such a delightful flower, strong, weathering any climatic situation, and growing strong. It is white, like her glowing hair, and relentless in her blooming. I even wrote a review on the website where I purchased it how it reminded me of Mrs. Bush. I will have it in my garden forever, will divide it and spread the love and beauty around She will always be in my heart, as I know she will be in yours

My heartfelt sorrow and prayers to Mr. Bush and family at Mrs. Bush's passing. In 1991 as a young Republican woman in Midland, Tx, I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Mrs. Bush during a luncheon in her honor. She was so gracious and accepted a basket of roses from my garden, in addition to a blue glass elephant crafted from Oklahoma sand. We had so much fun laughing at her jokes and perceptions of society in America. As we finished lunch, I told her I wanted to grow up to be just like her. She laughed and hugged me as she told me she was just a regular person, and she thought I could set my sites higher. I felt so privileged to have met such a humble and special woman. We met again in The Woodlands, TX as she dedicated a school in my neighborhood named in her honor. She actually remembered me and had a good laugh about being like her! I have tried to hold myself to her standard as a mother and wife, and wish I had taken the opportunity to tell her so. I loved her and am so sad at her passing.

A life of love, grace and dignity, Mrs. Bush was fiercely devoted to her husband and her family. She taught us real family values and true patriotism. Her sacrifice was tremendous, allowing her husband to build a company and pursue public service. Our deepest sympathies to the President and all the family. We love you, Mrs. Bush, and thank you for your public service as First Lady. May God hold you close as you gaze upon His face, reunited with Robin, your parents and all your loved ones. RIP Mrs. Bush, a great lady.

Posted by Lovina Wright - Ravenna, OH   April 18, 2018

Our deepest sympathies to the entire Bush family. Mrs. Bush was the epitome of a true lady, in her mannerisms, her speech, her personality and her deep and abiding love for her beloved husband and children. My husband is a retired Chief of the USSSUD and had the opportunity to work in the White House during both Bush administrations. We were fortunate to have been present at several White House Christmas parties, and were standing next to Mrs. Bush during the playing of Christmas carols by the Marine Corps Band. We were very fortunate to share a few words with Mrs. Bush about how beautifully she worked on the decorations made by children for the White House. She was a very special lady who brought a true sense of what the First Lady represents. It was truly an honor for my husband to be a part of both Bush Administrations, as well as having such a remarkable family representing our country. We wish all of the Bush family Godspeed, and we know in our hearts that Mrs. Bush will be welcomed into heaven with open arms. She will be truly missed but always remembered in our hearts and in our lives. Rich and Linda Friedman

My condolences on the passing of Former First Lady Barbara Bush. Although I am a democrat, I respected her tremendously and felt she was such a graceful, yet strong, charismatic, humorous and exemplary first lady, matriarch and outstanding woman. The 73-year marriage to her husband and how she still doted on him was so admirable and example to all married couples. Her tangible riches never seemed to overwhelm her understanding the value of intangible gifts, May she rest in peace after such a wonderful and love life.

Wonderful lady: Without Barbara 's strength, dedication, support and strong sense of being a wife, mother & leader in causes close to her heart, our country would not have had two presidents to lead us. She leaves a great legacy to not only the United States, but to Houstonians who were fortunate to have her among this city for many years as a resident. Barbara Bush was not born a Texan, but she truly was a real Texan and inspired many people through her dedication to service. Prayers to the Bush family.

Your wife, mother and mother-in-law left a beautiful legacy of standing by her husband while still maintaining respectful disagreements. She belongs right up there with Martha Washington, Mary Tod Lincoln and Nancy Reagan.

May she be remembered as a dear woman of God and a true American icon who stood by her husband and raised her sons and daughters (including Mr. Bush the second) to be fine and great patriots who loved the Lord and their country. I have read many of the comments in this string of condolences, and I saw a woman of great strength, a loving wife and mother, a proud woman of faith and a unique view of what it was to be a first lady.

Barbara Bush was definitely her own woman, and I loved her sense of humor. She was a riot! When she was in front of a microphone, I certainly listened. She will be missed, that's for sure. She reminds me so much of my own precious mother. They would have been great friends. I do hope they are exchanging their own brand of "ornery". What a treasure Barbara was! I pray that God grants you the same peace that I had after both my parents left this world. Love to all of the Bush family.

I never met Barbara Bush. I did travel to Kennebunkport and frequently stayed in a B&B close to the Bush compound. I admired Barbara Bush for her down to earth personality and honestly felt I could sit down with her and just chat over a cup of tea. My condolences to the entire Bush family. A first rate classy lady.

Your mom was a great lady and will be missed.
To a beautiful loving woman who cared for all.

A poem that I think she would have said.

I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when life is done.

Barbara Bush was the real deal..a class act
who loved God,her family,& country with her whole heart..and did not mince words when it came to defending her family after being attacked unfairly by critics and naysayers!
The world Feels darker without her sweet presence ..but heaven
must have a special flow tonight.
How comforting it is to know that God hates death even more than His Children ..
and that Mrs. Bush will never again suffer, or have to cry earthly tears over the death of a loved one
Dance with the angels Beautiful Lady.

William Smith, then pastor of First Church of Weymouth, Massachusetts, officiated at the wedding of his daughter, Abigail and John Adams. I am the first African American to have been ordained by that church. Abigail, remembered for having advised her husband to, "Remember the ladies," shared with your beloved, Barbara the distinction of having been the wife of one president and mother to another. I am neither Republican nor Democrat. I am an American that loves this country and proud to have had a First Lady who was class and faithfulness personified. While your sense of loss is so much more profound than mine, I can't help but think, with great sadness, that our country has lost a treasure tonight. I have no doubt that she will be remembered with great affection. Thank you for sharing her with all of us. Blessings to you all,

My family sends our deepest condolences to the Bush Family. As a democrat I didn't agree with all their policies, but you could see the passion and love that drove them and that came from Barbara. She and George HW Bush had a love that was visible to anyone who knew them as well as those of us who didn't. Being able to SEE love, friendship and respect, just by looking at a couple who have been married for over 70 years is breathtaking. I'm sure your grandchildren appreciate everything you have taught them about treating people with kindness and respect. After all, they were qualities that you possessed. I say all this without ever meeting you but I'm sure you would've been someone I'd be proud to know. I pray your family finds peace and strength. Rest in the arms of Jesus.
