I have only just discovered that Anita Shreve has died and am so sorry that she suffered in the latter part of her life. She was one of the truly great authors, showing immense imagination in her carefully-crafted writing. I have always romped through her books, wanting to find out more page by page. I am part-way through reading "The Stars are Fire" and shall enjoy the rest of it the more, knowing that it is her last.

I have thoroughly enjoyed many of her books. Definitely one of my favorite authors. Eden Close was my first of Anitas books. She was such an incredibly talented author who brings your right into the novel. She will be missed.

My favorite author. Im so sorry that there will be no new novels, but her stories will live on. Her characters and themes are haunting and psychological...It is interesting to reread her work at different stages of life. Her creative depth will continue to inspire.

I discovered 2 books by Anita yesterday and couldnt put them down. I thought how great it would be to know her and talk to her, for her way of seeing the world, details, emotions & life itself. It was devastating to find she had died, just as I got to know her books. I just wanted to say to those who knew her intimately, how sorry I am for your loss. From Patricia, a fan.

I recently found out about the passing of Anita Shreve, one of my very favorite authors. Many years ago, I picked up The Weight of Water at a bookstore. Her writing consumed me and I went back to buy every other book of hers on the shelf. They didn't have Eden Close and I couldn't find it anywhere. I wrote to Ms. Shreve through her publisher to ask where I could buy the book and was shocked to receive a handwritten reply from her. It is one of my most treasured letters that I have kept for almost two decades. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family and friends. I will certainly miss reading her eloquent and touching stories. What an incredible loss to the writing world. May she rest in eternal peace.

To the Shreve Family. I am a huge fan of Anita Shreve and was devastated to read about her passing. My favorite book is All He Ever Wanted, and I was absolutely delighted to read Stella Bain, which is a sort of sequel to All He Ever Wanted. I had secretly hoped that Ms. Shreve would write another book, telling us what really happened when Etna Bliss visited the house of her former lover on that very snowy day.
May all the beautiful memories you have of her help to sustain you during this very difficult time.
