He was always a joy to be around. He touched so many lives and is deeply missed! Even 5 months later I still cant believe he is gone and Im waiting to wake up from this horrible dream. I can only imagine the loss Angie feels along with his daughters and close friends. My heart truly breaks for all of you. I do find comfort knowing that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior! T-Roy will greatly be missed but his love for passion for his music and life will go on in all of us....I met T-Roy and Eddie years ago in Huntington, WV. Southern gentlemen to the core and both were as gracious and down to earth. We're Kentucky men and I say that with very much pride. We love hard, we fight hard, we work hard....we serve hard...that's all we know...Thank you T-Roy for the music you gave and man you just made the world a better place to be. Thank you for the influence you left on this southern rocker and for that I'll always be grateful....Tbone will carry on with both you and Eddie in my heart.....I plan to carry the torch...I know Eddie will continue to carry the torch....I'm sure he will....you're friends and family will continue to carry the torch for you.....Montgomery Gentry will continue in some form...this world needs to know more about the love and passion you and your band has to give. Enjoy the view from where you sit, we'll join you when we're called...much love, peace and respect always....RIP T-Roy......Tbone

Troy,Its Craycraft. I met him in 84 during high school at Henry Clay. My locker was over from his. We became friends . I started seeing him out in Lexington at parties . Years later he was setting up to play at Sam's Club. I pulled in just to say hi. My daughter went like 5 rows to get him. I couldn't believe he came. He was as happy as I was. We hugged and talked. He told me he was afraid he wouldn't make it big. I said Troy ,you will. Don't you worry. One day you can and you will. We talked ,hugged,I left. I was at Austin City S one night. He came in.A few of us from HCHS were there. We cheered him on. Next he was on MTV cribs ,married,a child. Then two..BIG. I saw him downtown with Eddie one night. He did it!!! He is a good man,a good soul. Always smiled. I felt it. I've cried all this water. I've cried enough for everyone. If only I had known 9-8-17 I would lose my friend . Wish I could've screamed years ago don't get on there that day.!!!! God,this hurts. I will always love you, miss you ,I have thought of you a zillion xs before this happened, now even more. When I told you that you would make it big, you went for it. You made it here, Then u went to God and grabbed those wings. I will see you again my friend one day but until then look over me as my struggle is still here. We were 8 months and small days apart. You will always stay in my heart. You always have been . Thank you for showing my daughter who is now 30 that you weren't to busy to take time for your friend. God keep him safe. He deserves it. He makes me so so much of a better person. I have to be to see him again. Friends 1984-forever. Love you boy. Cristy

WOW! I'm in utter shock of this mans death. What a tragic loss. It's a shame that Troy had to die so young. I never got to attend his concerts but watched him on tv & award shows & remember thinking what a handsome, classy man he was with the most beautiful smile & vibrant personality & just seemed to be full of life. He was a great talent & I have no doubt that he was a good, kind soul. It is so sad that people like Troy leave this earth in such a untimely manner & at such a young age leaving their family & friends behind to grieve their loss. I am very sad knowing that Troy has left this earth. It is my sincere hope & prayer that he is with our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ in heaven. My thoughts & prayers are with his wife, children & everyone who knew & loved him. He stood out among the rest in country music. He was a class act. I'm so very sorry. My heart breaks. There are no words to describe how we truly feel at this time. Prayers to Troy's wife & entire family. He will be missed. God Bless you all during this difficult time.

T-roy, what can I say about the smiles you put on my face without tears? We've been friends from time immemorial it seems, only for it to be since the first time you and Eddie opened up for Toby. Since then there has been more smiles, more laughing, and more memories; some wouldn't do to repeat because of various things. I'll forever remember the last time we had a visit. We talked of the past memories and agreed to make more. Until we meet again I'll have to think of them alone but I won't be alone because you'll be there in spirit with that smile of your's. To Angie, Taylor, and Kaylee; along with our many other friends my prayers, thoughts, and love are with you. I was in shock when I learned of the horrible news on Friday. I work for the Music and Entertainment Division at Target HQ and had the privilege of being able to hang out with Troy, Eddie and the gang on numerous occasions over the years. Even though it has been years since I've seen or talked to Troy I feel like I lost a close friend. He was such a great guy....so funny and so so nice. My brother joined us the time that we hung out on the bus at Canterbury Park (Shakopee, MN) and when I told him the other day how sad and heart broken I was he said yeah he sure was a great guy, like an old friend as soon as you met him. I will cherish the fun times we had together especially the Sony hosted dinner with the guys and Angie and Tracy. My deepest sympathy goes out to Angie, Taylor, Kaylee and the whole Montgomery Gentry team. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly sad and devastating time. Troy may be gone but his spirit lives on and he will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

My heart is broken as I heard the news Friday, Montgomery Gentry was the first band I was the runner for back in 2001. they were two of a kind. They treated everyone on their crew and anyone helping just like family. we spent the day riding 4wheeler and showing them the hills and mountains of Wyoming. then when I worked with them again in 2009 and 2013 they were the same good old boys they were in 2001. Popularity didn't change those two one bit. I will pray for his wife and 2 girls and they come to terms with their loss. T-Roy you will be missed by millions of fans. May you rest in peace.

I pray for strength, comfort, understanding, patience, support, and love for the family of Troy Gentry, Eddie Montgomery and the pilot's family. What an incredibly difficult time this must be for this has shocked the fans all over the world, we are at a loss so I cannot imagine the pain those closest to him are going through. As everyone has said about this band, not only are they so so talented, they were humble, true blue, kind and loving, God fearing family men who took the time out for their fans unlike many musicians. I pray for peace to all who loved him what a great example he was to many of young men. Him and Eddie both. To the pilot's family, may God comfort all of you. The world lost a great man, heaven gained a great guy probably singing his heart out right now. Thank you Troy for the music you will be greatly missed.

I am so glad that I got the opportunity to meet T-Roy at one of there concerts in Huntsville, Alabama. Me and couple of my friends were allowed on there tour bus after a concert. It meant a lot to us. Everyone behaved like perfect gentlemen and just regular down to earth guys. I had a whole new respect for all of them when we got off the bus. My friends and I that were on the bus are not wild girls, two of us were married and love our husband's and family very much. We talked about our husband's and wives and family quiet a bit. T-Roy talked about how hard it was to be away from his family when they didn't get to tour with him. I have thought about that conversation a lot the past few days. My heart, thoughts and prayers goes out to his wife and daughter's also to Eddie, the band and the rest of his family. It was a honor to have met him, Eddie and the band. Such a talented group of people.

My heart breaks for his family and I pray his soul is at rest with our heavenly farther. He was the only person I would have stood in line for to see. It was in a small venue in Knoxville. He gave me one of his famous bat man picks and the playlist tapped to the floor. Montgomery came over so I could touch his boot. What a night!! I'm sure I looked totally out of place having adult children as well as being a grandmother. Their music was so touching and they remained humble.it was obvious Troy lived his life to the fullest. May you Rest In Peace Troy Gentry, Montgomery will take it from here but you will never be forgotten.

I am at a loss for words....had the privilege of seeing and hearing him perform with Eddie and his wonderful band 3 times; twice at the Grand Ole Opry and most recently in Redmond, OR, at the county fair on August 2nd. All were great performances, but this last was the best as it was longer and the personalities of the guys really came through. My heart hurt at this news; I am praying for his family, band, and partner Eddie as well as all who ever had the joy of sharing his music. Our world is lonelier without him, but Heaven is rockin' right now with the music up there. God Bless.

One look at him and I didn't need to hear him sing, I just wanted to look at him. God really spent a little more time on him. He was so handsome and appeared to be sooo nice in all the posts and interviews I've seen them in. The best was how much of a family man he was. Our deepest sympathy going out to the Gentry family and Eddie Montgomery at this time. T-Roy was an amazing musician. We had the honor of meeting him and Eddie after quite a few shows and I was shocked at how humble and down to eather they were. No matter how famous they were they were always willing to take time out after the shows for the fans that were willing to go to extremes to see them (hahaha) The first time my husband and I met T-Roy he had just gotten off the phone with his wife who had just given birth to their daughter. He was wiping tears of joy as he shared it with us. Just awesome! T-Roy, you will forever be missed, but you will never be forgotten! We love you.

They were my favorite band and my heart is very saddened. It is truly sad to see this happen. He will be truly missed. Their music will live with us forever. Our deepest condolences to his family and Eddy and his family. RIP Troy.
