To the family of Heather Heyer, I want to say how sorry i am for your loss, and what a great loss it was. When i read and saw your daughters story my heart just broke. Her spirit is like no other. She stood for all things good. Her soul will forever go on and she will dance her way through the clouds. Your Angel on earth is now your Angel in heaven. Her soul will never leave you. May her bright light shine and fill your hearts with comfort and her memories will carry you through and guide you until you meet again. A beautiful person she was and is and she will never be forgotten. God Bless you all family and friends.

As a progressive supporter of Hillary Clinton, I am a 65-year old student of life, and a buddhist. As a non-combat vet I would have had no problem sharing a fox hole with you Heather. Not wanting to die, you nevertheless stood your ground. No parent should have to bury their young. May their days be filled with blessings from above, as your gentle spirit soars.

There was at that time, that night, a swelling of hate, emerging from the dark places where some had then given them legitimacy. Heather's death shined a light on that hatred and the violence it spawned. It took this tragedy to stop it in it's tracks and return it to the shadows. But the fight is not over. RIP Heather, you did not want to die that night, but you confronted evil straight in the face, and with your life gave many inspiration and courage to stand with you going forward. May you never be forgotten.

Your daughter will never be forgotten because what she did and tried to accomplish will be remember in the history books. So as you reflect on her life try to remember that others before her and will continue after her hoping to one day live in a world where there will be unified peace among all races of people regardless of who they are or where they may live. Psalms 72:7

Condolences to the family. It's heartbreaking that her life was taken but as you (mom) said we will be forever proud of her. Her desire and passion for unity and love among people is no doubt what drove her to be present on that day.

Know that God is a god of justice and love and will provide justice to the proper extent for taking the life of Heather and inflicting such pain to you all.

May he comfort your hearts greatly in the days, months and years ahead in to the the time when God allows you to see her again as promised.

It's difficult to put into words how sorry we are to hear about this great loss. To loose someone in this way and at such a young age is more than tragic. These surely are "critical times hard to deal with" as the Bible foretold at 1 Timothy 3:1-6. No doubt, God greatly values people like Heather who have worked passionately to activate a positive change in this crazy world. And God will soon "render judgment among the nations. And set matters straight respecting many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares. And their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation,Nor will they learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4) As the human race faces these daunting issues we can look forward to a better future brought about by our impartial Creator. Until then, may He supply you the strength to endure.
-With Much Love-

For the Family of Heather Heyer

The Eyes of Heather Heyer

In Memoriam

The eyes of Heather Heyer
Shine now
As the eyes of eternity--

The eyes that gleamed with tears
Over injustice,

The eyes that smiled in friendship
Over shared commitment,

The eyes that widened in terror
Over the approach of her death,

The eyes that closed in peace
At joining the communion of martyrs.

The eyes of Heather Heyer
Shine now
As the eyes of eternity--

Watching as evil is overcome
By good!

Grant us, oh Lord, peace in our day!

I am so saddened by the loss of this beautiful life. I pray that, as her Mom put it, she will be magnified because of it (and she already is). This means her message of love instead of hate will be magnified too. May God comfort all her family and friends not just during this most painful time, but in the days and years to come. I believe that many more like Heather will rise up because of her tragic departure from this earth.

Posted by Nancy Blatnik - Bedford, VA   August 17, 2017

I hesitate to speak of this loss as the of one who has 'passed away'.
I believe the correct term would be 'taken away'.

What we will all take away is the example by which you have lived your life, and loved your life.

What we will all take away is the example you set in standing for, and in ultimately dying for, that which you believed is important for all of us, even when many of us had not woken up to it.

What we will all take away is the strength, the dignity, the fortitude of your family in moving us from stunned disbelief, to a place of graceful rememberance for yourself, for one another, and for our society.

What we will all take away is a sorrowful gratitude ... for not having known you in life, for having now been introduced to you in tragedy, and for inspiring us to carry the torch you so nobly pass to us.

What we will all take away from this is a new purpose ... inspired by your purpose, inspired by your example, inspired by your families dignity and courage through their words of support to us ... and how ironic that sounds to me as I write here.

What we will all take away from this is the renewed realization of how fragile all of this is, and yet, how through you and through yours, we are reminded that living a life in purpose, in love and in light will in the end diminish hate, and darkness, and prejudice, and bring that light into those corners of our world that so desperately cry out to be illuminated.

Thank you Ms.Heather Heyer
Your being among us, has made this world a better place
I am sure I join millions is saying;
I wish I had known you.

As the mother of a daughter around the same age as Heather I feel so deeply for your tragic and unthinkable loss. Our hearts and thoughts are with you. Your eulogy for Heather was magnificent, and you have shown so much class and grace. One of my friends wrote "THIS is what will make American great." I was so touched by Heather's courage and compassion. I am in my sixties and have quoted the lines she posted on Facebook many a time. I am glad that you repeated them at the funeral. Paying attention and awareness is the first step in any action. You were, no you ARE, an amazing grace Heather. Rest in peace.

Thank you for showing what true patriotism and sacrifice is. Your courage will remain a part of our country's fabric for many years.

And to Heather's mother and family:
Please accept this brief statement from Abraham Lincoln to Lydia Bixby for the loss of all of her sons in the Civil War.

Her actions are just as important as Mrs. Bixby's sons' sacrifice given that they were done in the hope of defending our American values.

Executive Mansion,
Washington, Nov. 21, 1864.

Dear Madam,--

I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.

I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,

A. Lincoln

I do not know Ms Heather Heyer. I do recognize the picture her day's expressions painted. Heather's heart and her action, reflected her genuine concern for humanity. She cared about what is right. The impact of this is a reminder. As divisive and hateful as racism is, it is counter-balanced by hope and love. Jesus Christ also provided hope and love amidst divisiveness. Heather's life and actions were not in vain. Jesus spoke of his father's government as the hope and solution to divisiveness and hate. The truth of God's promises are seen through the eyes of faith. Heather is alive in God's memory. 2 Cor. 1:19 & 20 says: "No matter how many the promises of God are, they have become 'yes' by means of Christ." Yes, Heather reminds me, that there is hope AND love, for humanity. God's righteousness will soon triumph.
