You will never be forgotten in my heart. Forever we will be having a talk as we did when we would fish together or hanging by that guitar shape pool or at southern air or walking with you to your car at walmart. I mention these relations. You were the best of Rock N Roll. I loved to dance to your music and won a dance contest in 1959 dancing to Johnny B Goode.
Your music went right to the soul and could get you on the dance floor and enjoy every minute feeling free and happy. I now have a grandson 15 years old who keeps the song Johnny B Goode in his phone so he can play it for me and bring a flash back of my youth
at any given moment.
I live in California and went to
Cleveland to see the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. My first step in the door was a huge display of you over the entrance. It brought a smile to my face and I felt at home.

Say hi to John and George for me. Til we meet again.

Oh my, what that little country boy could play!!! :) I don't have the words to express to Chuck's family, what he meant to just me and mine, let alone the WORLD.. and not to forget the universe. Johnny B. Goode is reelin' and rockin' on the Voyager-1, on its way to blow other minds in unfathomable places. If ever I could choose an ambassador from the little rock that we come from, it'd be Chuck. Sorry to Chuck's family about losing papa. Thanks for sharing him with us. :) Very much love from Oklahoma City. -Your pal, Tim.

Late Saturday afternoon a KALH Instant Interrupt Report announced the death of a Rock 'n' Roll legend, Chuck Berry at age 90. The news came to me via text from my good friend in O'Fallon, Mo, Jim Corver ("Cousin Gym"), a frequent contributor of information to KALH.

Jim and I first got acquainted with Chuck Berry in the spring of 1964 as he was promoting his new single, "Nadine (Is that You)" as I worked at KWRE the regional voice of East Central Missouri where I worked as the St. Charles County News director and Saturday Morning DJ.

At the time, Jim was the keyboard man for my band and he helped put together a Teen Dance at the local park in St. Charles to promote Chuck's new song.

As the years went by, I went into the Air Force, then, followed my radio career which eventually led to New Mexico. Jim stayed in the home area where he built a lasting friendship with Chuck who lived at Berry Park, south of Wentzville, MO where Chuck owned a big restaurant called the Southern Arie for many years.

Jim notified me that Chuck Berry's first studio album since 1979 titled "Chuck" will be released on June 16-th. The first single from the album is titled "Big Boys". I played it following the Noon Spectrum News on KALH at 12:20 PM today.
It's now posted for streaming on YouTube at the following link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8Zoh-apWRE

A link to click on is at the bottom of this report.

It is classic Chuck. Bad Boys will be going into our "Currents" rotation later today on 95.1 FM - KALH.

Chuck Berry was a beautiful person and his music was awesone, every time his songs came on it was a siblings rivalry who can dance the best to his music, me beening the youngest I had it wrapped, now that I'm an adult, I have most of his music on CD and play it in my vehicle, while driving I have younger people dancing to his music and they would say that's old school and I would say that's real music from a great icon, so thankful that he shared his music with the world, I love him dearly and he was a very handsome man, my deepest condolences to his family

Goodbye to the greatest purveyor of musical energy we've ever seen. You were the first singer/songwriter of Rock, and the name "Rock and Roll" was invented to describe YOUR music by Alan Freed. It wasn't coined by Freed to describe Bill Haley, or Elvis,or Little Richard--it was invented to describe YOUR music. And then everyone on the Planet came to know the term. And they all knew you were synonymous with it. It has struck me that you may have been the most famous man in the world, maybe more famous than Ali, more famous than John Kennedy or John Lennon, or anyone else. You had a reputation for swagger, yet I know, from knowing people who knew you intimately, that you were a humble man at your core. But oh how we all loved the swagger that you did have. It's what made you such a great entertainer, so universally loved and admired. You were my inspiration, my model, and my motivation to become a pro musician. Thank you for that, and all those timeless songs for all of us. What a great life. What a great guy. And this world will miss you greatly, and forever...

Chuck Berry's natural talents were God's gift to all of us. He enlarged our national culture through his music. When he played his music, whether solo or with others, he was his full self - giving enjoyment to his audience, fellow musicians, and himself. God danced when Chuck played, and I am sure there is one great concert going on in Heaven right now. Thank you God for the life and gift of Chuck Berry.

You were a very humble man, never once did we discuss your fame, just had nice long conversations mainly about family. The only thing I regret in all the times talking to you was that I was too shy to ask for your autograph. May God grant peace to your family during this time. Godspeed, Mr. Berry. What a Showman he was. Of course I was nervous about when he would show up, though for us He was always on time. We would canvas the parking lot looking for a White Cadillac hoping he was there, after a few shows I quit looking for him,
I knew that he was going on Stage as the Greatest Entertainer there ever was!
I Remember Guitar Techs would ask, Mr. Berry would you like us to tune your guitar, which Chuck would Snap Back, "No Sir, Dat Guitar Was Tuned at the Factory" Yes Chuck's Mold was Broken at the Factory! My friend Sharon, cousin Sue, and I came to Blueberry Hill. November 28, 2011! It was such a thrill to hear you introduced, and to feel the love as the audience cheered. It is one of my favorite concert moments! I remember that smile of yours as you played and talked to the audience. It was so obvious how much you enjoyed us, and the feeling was mutual! I had no idea that your son and daughter were in the band! That made the experience all the more special- to see your gift and love of music in your kids. Your son playing guitar, and your daughter had such a voice and was absolutely lovely! Way to go Chuck! That was a good life. Well done. Rest in Peace. I miss you already, but I will always have your music. Thank you so much, and God bless you Chuck!

My most sincere condolences to Mrs. Berry and to the entire Berry family on Chuck's passing.

Please allow me to share a personal appreciation. I was just a little girl growing up in Ballwin, still a remote, rural community, when I first heard "Maybellene." I immediately knew I wanted to grow up to be the saucy girl driving the Coupe de Ville. Even as a child I could tell Maybellene was totally in charge of the situation. She was leading the chase, allowing her boring boyfriend to catch up for awhile, and finally deciding when to be "caught." I never got to drive a Coupe de Ville, but I did get to drive a lime green 1968 Camaro with a four speed Hurst shift and racing stripes. And I did grow up to be a Maybellene of sorts, thanks not only to the independent image that Chuck's song planted in me but also of course to the feminist movement that opened doors later.

Chuck's classic song was a gift to me, and perhaps also to other girls, during a time when girls were not supposed to take charge of their own lives, have their own opinions or preferences, or say or do what they wanted.

May the Berry family find comfort in the love and appreciation that Chuck's music and lyrics inspired.

To Themetta Berry and Children; My sympathy in the lose of your life partner of almost 70 years. The lose of your father. In the importance of Chuck Berry to provide for his family it appears his goal was achieved. Your family's story of struggles and achievements is an interesting moment in history. No matter the negative of that history, the fact that a marriage lasted almost 70 years is a shining achievement of love! Your story will never be forgotten, just as the man Chuck Berry will live on through time.

Dear Mr. Berry's Family:

Please accept my most sincere sympathy. Although we do not know each other, my desire is to bring some comfort at this time. Blues and country music is a deep and real reflection of the group it represent. Their speaking language, culture, soul, hopes, feelings, etc. Mr. Berry did this outstanding work although he was imperfect as all of us are. Can you imagine his work in a perfect stage! Really it will be something out of this world. But my dears, the future will bring the fulfilment of the hope placed in front of us. It will be something to hold if Mr. Berry can bring the best of him at that time. With agape love, BA

Little did I know this experience would change my view of Berry and made me one of the biggest fans around! I met chuck and his son several times at blueberry hill and both were so gracious to me!

There is nothing that can describe the feeling of standing in a dark alley in St. Louis and watch the king of rock and roll drive up himself as an 85 year old man in his Toyota! And when he popped the trunk and got that Gibson guitar out I had goose bumps! I will cherish all my memories of chuck and all my albums and cds forever! I've also taught my kids his influence on music!

Black American music changed the world. I love to look at the old footage: blacks and whites of all ethnicities, just groovin. This was a scene impossible to imagine just short years before. We boomers in the west grew up lovin pop music and the predominately black musicians that were making it. Mr Berry and the multitude of soul brothers and sisters were more than entertainers: they were peacemakers of the first order. Brava, and thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!

I, like many people, pulled out and played their Chuck Berry CDs, albums, or digital playlists yesterday when the heard of his passing. As I was listening to classic song after classic song, a realization came to me - in the 65 years that rock 'n roll has been a recognized music genre, no one has ever written, sung, or played it better than Chuck Berry...some have gotten close, but no one has topped him. He is the Mozart of Rock N' Roll, and should be held in the same esteem. Hail, Hail, Chuck Berry!

I'm quite certain that all who were born early enough to actually witness music history in the making often fantasize about attending the all time ultimate concert lineup among their dearly departed: Emerson on keyboards, Bonham and Moon on drums, Oakley and Dewar on bass, Joplin and Morrisson on vocals, Harrisson on rhythm guitar, and absolute rock royalty on lead guitar. Had Mr. Berry, along with Mr. Haley and Mr. Presley not laid this foundation, there would never have been a British Invasion, accompanied by the greatest musicians and singers the land of opportunity could produce. Once again, a perfect spiritual wakeup call has come our way to very seriously consider where we all truly stand before the One Who gave us music .........Romans 10:9-13.........

What can anyone say about Chuck Berry without saying just how many people he influenced whether guitarist or just listener. We have truly lost not only an American icon, but a real, World-wide Treasure. I am proud to have roots from St. Louis, Missouri, besides Anheuser-Busch, may be the most recognized export from The Gateway City. I remember being 3 when my older brother or sister brought "My Ding-A-Ling" home and once I began playing guitar at 7, I HAD to learn Chuck's songs. Our world is a little quieter tonight. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Berry Family.

The impact that Chuck Berry had on me and on millions of others can't be underestimated. He was the fifties' greatest lyricist, guitarist and, dare I say, singer. He brought social commentary into song in a poetic fashion. Where do you begin? "Johny B. Goode", "School Days", "Brown-Eyed Handsome Man" or "Memphis"? He's always been the true King of Rock n' Roll. Love you man and I'm sure you're up there in "The Promised Land" making the superb band there even better. RIP King.

I came to Chuck's music through the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Then learned about his craftsmanship through the film, "Hail! Hail! Rock and Roll" I remember being so impressed with the intelligence and personality of his family, them talking about his mother being college educated, and his father taking classes while working as a contractor. Chuck, in addition to producing seminal American music, had a very intelligent parentage. This sagacity contributed to his longevity. My sincerest condolences to Ingrid and the rest of the family.

In 1984, after playing a concert in Baltimore, I waited around with other fans to get Chuck Berry's autograph. I didn't have a piece of paper, but I did have my acoustic guitar. Mr. Berry drove out of the gate at the venue, rolled down the window, and signed autographs for everyone waiting. I got up to the car, slid my guitar in the window, and he signed it adding a big smiley face! He took a few seconds out of his life to something so nice for a 17-year-old kid. Thank you, Mr. Berry! Chuck was the TRUE king of rock n' roll. He was a trailblazer who had a profound influence on rock icons like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I saw him perform on his 80th birthday 10 years ago at Blueberry Hill, and even though he gave a strong performance, I remember thinking, he'll probably be performing for only another year or two at his age. Little did I know he would perform for another 10 years, and even record a new album (as he did last year). I think John Lennon may have put it best when he said: "If you tried to give rock n' roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry." RIP, Chuck.

Like me and Mr.Berry hung out together on down by the Arch. I wish that were true. Never met the man but was inspired. He'll e missed by me and people all over the world.

23rd PSALM

The LORD is my Shepard, I shall not want,
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul,
He guides in the path of righteousness for his names' sake
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
For you are with me,
Your rod & your staff,
They comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows
Surely goodness & love will follow me all the days of my life, & I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever

AMEN
RIP Chuck
