Our little town of Ellijay in Northwest Georgia had the rare privilege to be graced by the presence of Ms. Douglas for a few days when she came during the annual Apple Festival in the Fall of 2013. Serving as grand marshal for the parade, themed 'Elly May Comes to Ellijay.' Miss Donna was truly engaged and professional, meeting and greeting folks (and critters), signing autographs, setting up photos to capitalize on the best lighting, and just being her simply delightful self. Presented with a key to the city, we had hoped she might return someday. We were saddened to learn of her passing. Condolences and heartfelt sympathy to surviving family and friends.
Donna, your love and support throughout my adult life will forever be treasured . RIP. Love, Diana
