"So sorry to hear of this great loss to Nashville, music, and poetry. I have admired David Olney for many years and had the pleasure to meet him numerous times. He was a true gentleman and a gracious genius. My sincerest condolences. His family is in my prayers."
"I was in the crowd @ Springwater back in the late '70's when The X-Rays performed their magic. They were so important to us. His songs were part of our young lives and they resonated long after in our hearts and minds. What a marvelous communicator he was: blunt, fierce, romantic & brilliant. And, of course, we danced like maniacs. I cherish those weekend nights to this very day. I loved him through the years - all those insightful songs about caterpillars turning into butterflies, or a mighty oak being struck by lightening, or digging a deeper well, or the poor beggar who posed as Judas Iscariot in Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Last Supper'. His personal integrity as an artist is a life lesson for us all. Now, of course, it's going to be a sad Saturday night. But whether you are at Brown's Diner, Springwater Supper Club, at home with a friend or loved one, somewhere deep in America or sailing overseas -raise a glass to the great David Olney. May his wonderful songs endure forevermore. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to his family & friends."
